Personally I would keep the direct debits on your TSB account for the time being and just feed in enough to cover them. Once Christmas is out of the way you can start moving them across to Lloyds. Standing orders are easier as they are under your control. Once a payment has gone out you can set them up with Lloyds whenever it suits you.DragonQ said:Should I move all of my DDs and SOs from TSB to Lloyds, or just be lazy and continue to feed in the minimum each month from my savings account to the TSB accounts to keep them churning. Decisions, decisions.

Aren't there a lot of posters who change what REALLY reads like a snide post , get into trouble for it, and then change it suddenly to a "half hearted joke and poor humour". It does make one wonder which was the original meaning behind the post. OK, I'll go along with the apology and accidental poor humour, Herbie----and try to help make this site a warmer place.IanManc said:
@Herbalus : Oh, ok. Seeing you meant it as a joke I've deleted my posting.Herbalus said:@IanManc I’m very pleased you think I have friends on this site. The reality is I don’t really post that much anymore. The only comment I made on bumping (aside from my post which you’ve quoted) was only really a roundabout way.
My comment genuinely wasn’t meant to be snide. Merely a half-hearted joke, so if you don’t find it funny, then I am guilty as charged for poor humour!
Have a good day Herbie.0 -

I logged on this morning to verify my interest had been paid and I got an error message saying I couldn't change this type of account (classic plus) online... anyone else get this?crumpet_man said:If Veryintrigued had omitted the word "bump" from said post, would anyone have claimed it was a bump?
Anyway, who is converting their old classic plus accounts to Spend and Save? I have two to do today providing the last lot of interest has been paid, not checked yet.

Thanks for this. It saves me a phone call/branch trip if it works - haven't had much success using TSB online forms in the past though...bristolleedsfan said:PRAISETHESUN said:

EDIT: form worked fine. Just needed my Classic plus sort code and account number. Should get something from them in up to 2 weeks to confirm the account type has changed successfully.2 -
Well thats all 6 accounts closed. Closure process was surprisingly easy so they have managed to do something right IT wise

How did you close the accounts and how long did it take for them to finally be closed? I completed the online form using my smartphone on Wednesday night, but the accounts are still open?hollie.weimeraner said:Well thats all 6 accounts closed. I tried to empty my accounts yesterday, but my final transfer out was blocked with a message to call them. Phone line busy, couldn't be bothered to wait on hold, so I gave up and emptied the account using a debit card transaction instead.0

Interesting. I had the exact same issue. Had emptied 5 accounts - got to the 6th and got access blocked and had to ring. They reinstated access once I got on the phone - quite quick and easy. She did asked if I wanted to close the accounts but I needed to keep 2 open to fund 2 regular savers so I said no for the moment.Fingerbobs said:I tried to empty my accounts yesterday, but my final transfer out was blocked with a message to call them. Well that's what I have done actually (youngretired said:

), so factually, I've applied to close them but it was surprisingly easy compared with HSBC who insist on you going into branch. I did empty all the funds first and had no problem doing this. My funds have now gone into my stocks and shares Aviva ISA which has been returning just over 5% since I opened it. TBH I should have done this earlier but hindsight is great. 0 -
I sat on hold for 15 minutes before giving up and using the debit card. I'll probably give them another ring at some point to remove the 'block' on the account, just in case I find a use for the account at a later date, although there's no urgency now of course because it's effectively defunct anyway.VXman said:
