Katsu is gorgeous, and can be bought as a powder sauce mix -those people who do the chip shop curry mixes do a Chinese and a Japanese one. Add water, stir, heat, it thickens, ta-dah! It is a go-to 'can't be faffed but need to feed' meal in our house. Total crowd pleaser. (Even the restaurants use this powdered mix - or you can get it in a pod - like the 'posh' stock pots).Today was a spend day- I have come in £4 over budget due to a ys big brand laundry gel poddy thing being so horribly smelly I had to buy washing powder (it was reduced to half price though). I scored a Lidlee fruit and veg box for £1.50 and even the cereal I went in for was reduced. The cooker is being delivered tomorrow. It was a necessity. It was the cheapest one I could find. Free delivery and dh will connect. DH's payday today, but no money has hit my bank account so it looks like it will be Monday before I can make any plans. 2 days to get more jobs off the list.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Evening all, final check in for the month probably . I managed 19 NSD's which is 1 short of my target so pretty good! I won't get a NSD tomorrow as having a hair cut, the first time since January and very much needed! Really want to get my car washed and waxed tomorrow so it's protected for the winter (bit sad I know!) but not sure if the weather will be on my side. Will see what I can do. Will see you all in November!5

NSD no. 23 today.
Grateful for:
A very chilled out day.
Read some of a book.
Watched some free talks online - it was a grief festival. There are further talks I plan to watch at the weekend.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20135 -
Today I am grateful for finding some presents for family whilst out and about with dd, for not having to do much today, for fresh bed linen, for the Vuelta going ahead, for being content with who I am and where I am in life.

Friday- had to post a parcel and buy milk so not NSD and tomorrow won't be either. Finish the month on 14/15 NSDs which is better than I thought it would be. Had to fill the oil tank as soon as I moved in so that was a big chunk of upfront money I hadn't budgeted for so have slightly overspent for the month. Overall I'm pleased with the month and am ready for November to start.5

Well it wasn't raining and I could move so I went into the yard and put loads of stuff into the shed (will need to come out to be be sorted but mum wants things 'tidy', by which she means that she can't see it). Have moved large pots into place and filled any gaps with onions. Outdone myself by getting two dresses completely muddy in one day. Put a towel, a sheet and 3 dresses (all the ones that are on their last legs) in to wash - they will go out on the line if it's not raining tomorrow.
Grateful for a warm house, hot water to deal with the mud on me, good simple food, cutting my hair (cut the fringe away from my eyes a few weeks ago but couldn't be bothered to do more, now it's mostly done - not used a mirror yet just held clumps between my fingers and cut on the outside of my finger). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage4 -
A massive thank you to all turtles (and lurkers) who have been outward bound during October. Sorry I haven't been 'fully present' for part of the time.
On a personal level, I have struggled with my physical and mental health but I am once more debt free, I have an emergency fund, I have savings, I have a place to stay, a comfortable bed, food to eat, lots of books, embroidery and jigsaws. I have my mother, whom I love dearly despite our niggles (we are like an old married couple but I never wanted to be married). There are lots of things I could improve on but I have made wiser choices, made some improvements, plodding forward at the speed of treacle. Still not spent any money on me.
I have much to be thankful for and am looking forward to November's challenge. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9 -
I just want to say that I am grateful for this thread, it is the warmest and most lovely place to be. And I look forwards to November. Since July I have re-boostet my creative writing and written over 400 pages of journal/reflective pages, i think it is almost time to start a more ambitious writing project, but at the moment I just bought an other 400 page a5 journal, so who knows where it will go. I love the handwriting process.
I have also sort of halved my active debt, and am ready to start paying again after a covid/citizenship break. So eventually in about a decade I might be debt free, but primarily I am grateful that for a year and a half I have not once gone over and I am paying everything and everybody every month and still putting a few pennies away.
Life is just so much better that way.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning everyone
mothernerd thank you for the challenge and well done on being debt free
My update is below:
O Only for this month, charity shop purchases/ donations will not lose you a NSD.
Only managed 6 NSDs. Lots of small spends and lots of birthdays to buy for.
U You need to take care of you (especially if others depend on you).
Have done exercise, had walks and kept in touch with family. Have been going to bed earlier and reading before sleep
T Try to live frugally, being mindful of every purchase. This does not mean denying yourself of every tiny pleasure.
Have done.
W Winter is coming. You are going to get sick. Be prepared.
Have stocked up on hot lemon drinks and pain relief tabs and throat sweets. Am taking vitamins. Had a flu jab.
A Awesome.
It was my birthday this month and my DDs took me away which made me feel awesome.
R Routine.
My goals for October - be active every day; complete self assessment; make progress with my qualification; declutter 2 bin bags worth of stuff from the house/garage - CS, tip or Bay of E.
All done except for self assessment. I have joined an online peer support group which is really helping me with my qualification. Sold items on Bay of E and taken 2 bags to the CS. Had lots of walks and done online exercise classes.
D Debts or savings should be paid first
Managed to pay a lot of debt and CC debt is now less than £1k. First time in years.
O Originality & sense of humour
Keeping in touch with friends and sharing laughs with them
U You must change the way you think about things. Your home is not a prison, it's a haven, a sanctuary, make it cosy.
Keeping house clean and decluttered makes me much happier in my home. Not managed to sell it yet but feeling ok about that.
N No limits.
Yes getting rid of clutter - ongoing mission, going in the right direction
D December.
Not much in the way of preps but have the start of a list.
Gratitudes this month: DDs for being overall lovely and taking me away for my birthday; DD1s house purchase is going well; DD2 for keeping motivated at uni despite difficult times; lovely friends who are there for me
See you all in November !!
