NST October The Turtles Go Outward Bound

Today I am grateful for getting the Dino train set for gs1 from liddle, for dd + friend having a great time together - skateboards + popcorn were all they needed, for getting outside and clearing a lot of garden - one particularly spindly thing had me digging and tugging on it for a good 20 mins to finally win the battle and get it out, for the washing machine to just chuck my mucky clothes into, for tech meaning we can stay in touch with family - we'd rarely see them in person anyway, but a video call is extra special at the mo, so long as we get the time zone differences right!

mothernerd - That is great news.
Hugs to those in need of them.
Sorry for being AWOL.
Am on 22 NSD's.
Was a spend day. Had to do a tiny food top up shop. Am just slightly over the food budget set for the month. Had to get more ink cartridges for printer and some knives eg bread.
Not going back to temp job next week as it was not suitable for me. At least I gave it a go.
Grateful for:
Having some voluntary work this week.
Being in contact with family.
Finishing the last of the cottage cross stitch kits.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20136 -
Thursday- NSD 14, will just make 10000 steps today- far too dark and wet to add many more. I have no motivation to do anything this evening so will hopefully be in bed before 9PM. Rarely happens but I feel like I need it tonight.

Think I am still on 7/8 for this month but no planned spending tomorrow. My big fortnightly shop is getting delivered tonight plus veg boxes paid for for the week.
Feeling a bit down re Scottish Covid restrictions - hadn’t twigged before tonight about the travel restrictions on meeting others from different council areas. A lot of my mum friends are in East Dun, I’m in Glasgow. Only a 15 minute drive away but means we can no longer meet to let our little ones play together outdoors. Yet I can still meet Glasgow friends one on one outdoors so at least that’s something. Also can no longer meet my mum for a walk as she is in South Lan. Really wish we could meet even one other household indoors, it’s been such a rainy week and while my nearly 5yo is quite happy being outdoors in the cold and wet, my nearly 2yo is struggling and ends up just crying her eyes out after 20/30 minutes out in the cold or wet, particularly if in the pushchair (I do let her walk as much as I can but she can’t walk long enough distances or fast enough to let her walk everywhere). It’s going to be a long winter if she is like this every time we go out and means I will have to drive every nursery run etc (it’s an hours round trip when walking) which I don’t want to start doing as I enjoy walking in the morning.
Sorry for the downer... must focus on gratitudes. Grateful for spending some lovely time playing with my daughter this morning when changing my bedding (she was playing peekaboo under the sheets and pretending to go to sleep, adorable) and then time with my son building a train track while my husband put my daughter to bed. I’m also very thankful for video calling and the various messaging services that stop me missing my friends and family too much.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Dear all I am updating my challenge now, I have a really busy day and won't be home for the weekend.
OUTWARD BOUND - summary!
O Only for this month, charity shop purchases/ donations will not lose you a NSD. _ have done my 15 NSD’s - not really bough much apart from food, and hair dye.
U You need to take care of you (especially if others depend on you). Been eating really well and been taking my vitamins, exercise not been quite so good.
T Try to live frugally, being mindful of every purchase. I have been really careful, and thoughtful. Have had a nice time, and very happy.
W Winter is coming. You are going to get sick. Be prepared. Hot water bottle and extra layer of quilt out and am toasty. I am taking my vitamins!A Awesome. Turtles are awesome. You are awesome. Yes….quite pleased with my awesomeness. .
R Routine. – not great, working extra hours to make up for days I was at Uni – online, and starting said Uni has started – so a little bit out of sorts in terms of routine.D Debts or savings should be paid first, you live on what is left over. I paid 5% off my debts plus the slightly over the minimum payment in October, I was very happy with that!
B Budgets should be set before the start of the month for all categories I have been mostly very good with this, and still have money in my pots for some categories to carry over / put in my 1% pot. Budget will be tweaked again in November – the beginning of the month my relationship had a bit of a bash – and sort of cut out the expenses in relation to this. Travel (Brighton – London), and a bit of pocket money. We are very much back on track, and both working on our debts, so we have had a lot of conversations about our money and debt. All good. Just a bit less for the debt, but very happy.
Originality and a sense of humour will get us through this month and the last quarter of 2020. – My partner and I are being very creative with our time together, for example we are going to Primrose Hill to look at the full moon on Saturday – with a flask of mulled wine and some soup. Cosy and lovely.
U You must change the way you think about things. I have accepted the fact that I will be working from home for the foreseeable, and made a tiny office in the hall. My living room is no longer the place I work and (try to) relax. It feels clear in my leisure space and and I am able to work better too.
N No limits. Take time to ponder, muse, wrestle a tricky problem. Lots of pondering, not action in terms of getting rid of stuff, as yet.
D December. We are still not talking about that day but, like everything else, things are going to be different. So, I have damson vodka, spiced plum liqueur and sloe gin ready to give. Not done anything else…but set a budget. My partner and I may well be sleeping on the beach and waking up on Christmas day in the great outdoors! No other firm plans at all.
Thank you for the challenge @mothernerd and for all the turtle company. See you next month.

The fact that you are struggling does not make you a burden. It doesn't make you unlovable or undesirable or undeserving of care. It doesn't make you too much or too sensitive or needy. It makes you human. Everyone struggles. Everyone has a difficult time coping and at times, we fall apart. During these times, we aren't always easy to be around - and that's okay. No-one is easy to be around 100% of the time.
2020 just needs to pull over and stop - I'll get out and walk.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -

NSD No 17 - Really surprised I've managed that many!
Pay day today (well one of them anyway) but I think I'll leave the banking until Sunday when I'm in a better frame of mind to wrestle with bank's website. It gets more complicated every time I log in or rather don't log in because it doesn't work.
Halloween tomorrow. Got sweets to make up bags but not really expecting anyone apart from the children who live on our block. At least, I hope not. They shouldn't be wandering around knocking on random doors. They shouldn't be doing that anyway but especially not now.
I am about to try to make a katsu chicken curry for dinner for Himself and I. It's the Boy's favourite so this is an experiment to see if it works out. He usually buys it from a Japanese restaurant near to his office but since he's been working from home since March he's getting withdrawal symptoms. Wish me luck.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5
