Hi Turtles, had a very poorly day yesterday and lost a days wages. But the wine and whining is significantly reduced, 2 evenings wihtout wine this past week. Very pleasees with that.
Winter things...got the snap on extra layer for the duvet out and put it on the bed and the hot water bottle out. Slept with the window open last night, really lovely.
Been thinking about the day in Decmber and am goign to scale back a bit more.
Need to regig the budget before next months budget.
Found myself looi gat clothes and things in the internet to buy, haven't bought anything, but isn's it interesting how the intenet is so ready and willing to take your cash...not like when you had to go to the shop. Not spending takes more discipline - well the habits take more discipline.3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000
Stocks and shares ISA: £1497
Additional pension contributions £0
Overpayment on mortgage: £0

Sorry not managing to post much this month, short staffed at work due to vacant posts, self-isolating due to close contacts of positive cases and non-covid related illness so racking up a lot of overtime. On night shift tonight so will give me a chance to catch up on my paperwork. Totally lost track of NSDs but I know I'm still in budget (just). Got a week's holiday starting 5th November so just counting down the days!Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50

Good morning all!
Well I had my mid-month wobble a week late. Wednesday was a horrible day - low mood - didn't leave the apartment all day. Thursday better but still not 100%... yesterday and today on the mend. It's so weird. I have dug out my light box in case it is seasonal - as it has been dark, gloomy and oppressive for ages - add to that everyone's general low mood and frustration at lockdown - and it's a recipe for mass depression!!! I know a few on here have been struggling too.
Hugs Calling!!! You're poor head 😘🤕
Anyway - today is another day. I am still in my dressing gown to my shame - and done nothing productive. I am going to get a shower and head over to parents later on for the night. Mum always cheers me up with her shenanigans! This morning I got a photo from sister - Mum's floor was covered in bits where she had shredded her incontinence pad! She doesn't wander, or hide things, and is not aggressive - but she is quite destructive! It could be worse so I am counting my blessings! Has your Mum developed any quirks Apple? Like yours - my Mum's memory is pretty shoddy now, but she is happy for the most part.
So, Wednesday was a NSD (number 11), Thursday wasn't nor Friday. Today won't be either as need a big shop (last 2 days were comfort food spends!). Still have cash in the old budget though!!! Whoop!
Catch you all tomorrow x⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Afternoon all
Haven't posted for a few days, am up to 14 NSD's which is good and have about £40 left until the end of the month with nothing else to buy.
Had my specialist appt and they're going to give me a steroid injection which is positive, just waiting for confirmation of my appt.
Today has been a spend day, got some painkillers, bread and protein bars as they were on offer. Also ordered OH's birthday present. My rabbit decided to stop eating so had to take her to the vet this afternoon, £100 down. She is insured but not sure if it's worth claiming unless she has to go back again as I think the excess is about £70 and they whack the premium right up any time you claim so it will counteract whatever I get backfrom claiming. Will see how she goes and have a think about it, typically she seems fine now and is eating again! Such a drama queen....
Was going to clean my car today but the weather is grim so I'm staying firmly tucked up indoors. Stay safe everyone.7 -
It's half term!!! Whoop! Well - DS3 has already been off a week and DS2 2 days, but the school where I mainly work only broke up yesterday. But DH ahs also booked this coming week off work - all is good
We have booked an escape room for Weds (cheaper midweek and 20% off for half term) to do with the kids and DH and I have an afternoon tea planned when I phone the hotel to book it (present for my bday back in March just before lockdown) but not much other than that, really. I'd like DH to do a couple of little diy jobs and I've got a heap of things to list on flebay/ fb00k/ take to CS and a general catch up on housework (after 50+ hours the week before I worked 40+ last week - I'm just not used to doing that any more!!) Also want to go though mine and the smalls' wardrobes to remove things and make a note of any 'gaps'
Spends have been here and there. No exercise done (too tired after early starts and long days) but daily avg step count is more than 10k so all is not lost.
Bought 2 cards for Xmas today - the sort that have seeds in them and you plant them afterwards - so a combined present and card - gifts for 2 aunts who don't really need anything. The designs on the cards are beautiful - they are prints of works of a local artist and are beautiful. No other prep done this week.
Vey wet day today. Back home safe and sound. Remarkably painless. Feels a bit strange after a month. I have also been stressed about going into the higher tier here in Scotland but it’s looking a bit more encouraging where I am today.
Himself has missed his appointment for his flu jab. Have to sort that out on Monday. It’s a bit strange. He, having no underlying health problems and being five years younger than me was given an appointment at our local Health Centre. Whereas I, having health problems and being older have been given an appointment three weeks later at a venue five miles away. I don’t drive and can’t use public transport (their advice). No matter. The Boy will take me but it’s ems a bit random. What would happen if you didn’t have help.
Back to being a normal turtle tomorrow.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -

Unlikely! Not sure any of us Turtles can do 'normal' anymore. Glad you are safe back at home now.

Tried to go to a big shopping centre thinking to get organised for that big festive day - wanted to buy the kids PJs and things from Primark. Left after 10 mins without buying anything as it was outrageously busy. I’m not overly Covid anxious I don’t think (though we do follow all the rules to try and be responsible as we know others are more vulnerable than us) but I have to say I felt unsafe, we are in Glasgow too which has high Covid rates. People were actually jostling and pushing past me to get to things with zero attempt to distance (well it was impossible cos it was so busy). And I felt very guilty for being part of the problem by staying so I just left. Tbh on the way home I came to realise that I also didn’t feel right because I knew I was engaging in overly consumerist behaviour, buying cheap tat for the sake of getting the kids a big pile to open. Where possible I know I’d rather get less but acquire it more ethically (making it myself, getting it hand made or from a small business). I say where possible as it’s not always possible on a tight budget as we all know.I talked to my mum about it after and she encouraged me to make the kids some clothes so I’ve now ordered some fabric and am going to attempt making nice kids PJs instead 😆 wish me luck as I am very much a sewing amateur and slightly afraid of my sewing machine...
Today I’m grateful for my lovely husband watching the kids while I went out and not saying “I told you so” about it being too busy (he is very sensible and already thought I shouldn’t go). And I’m grateful for our chickens who provided a very nice lunch of scrambled egg 🙂 I know egg production will slow soon so enjoying them while I can! Hopefully the two young ones don’t stop totally as it’s their first winter. I found the older two laid enough their first winter that we didn’t need to buy any eggs but after that we got a gap in later years.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

You’re probably right, F0xh0les. But, I feel I need to get into some kind of a routine even if it isn’t “normal” as it was in the past. I need to make a bit more of an effort to adapt to this. It’s the uncertainty that is getting me down. We will get there though because basically we don’t have a choice. Just need to take care of one anotherHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6
