JamoLew said:what are you actually doing that requires you to need 500 Mbps which makes 120 Mbps unsuitable ?

The OP may be Scottish, I believe it’s common that Scotsmen and women don’t say they ‘live’ in a particular place , but they ‘stay’ there.
As far as tampering with OFNL , I suspect that’s just a misunderstanding, HO wouldn’t touch it, perhaps the OP assumes the OFNL network has to be made available to HO ( it doesn’t )As far as the comments about the OP already having FTTP/H and being ‘grateful’ , there used to be a national network, where common pricing, and network availability was built in, but we all worship at the alter of ‘competition’ now, and obviously the OP feels the only company that they can use is poor and wishes for something else, nothing wrong with that, but the fact is they are effectively locked into a monopoly supplier , it’s a bit of a mirage the ‘choice’ of several company’s that offer service over OFNL, whilst they remain relatively small no doubt these providers will continue without any Ofcom intervention0 -

HO did say that they wont touch OFNLs equipments but there was a stern "NO" from the directors. and yes I totally agreed those idiots did receive a nice brown bag for their effort. btw I read the below article last night about initiatives from the government. Does this change anything at all?

Its unclear if you existing BB speed negates that but it may help. Until we see the final proposal I can';t be sure.

If they weren’t in some way unhappy with what they currently have , then why would they bother to comment ?, perhaps my chosing the word ‘poor’ isn’t the best way to describe it , but they obviously are not satisfied in some way0

I suspect they it’s purely the price they’re unhappy with rather than the actual service with his current provider. However his current provider haven’t held a gun to his head and forcing him to pay £38/m for 120 Mbps FTTP service. Their FTTP packages start from £14/m and there’s nothing stopping the OP downgrading if money is tight, assuming they’re outside any minimum term. Like I said it’s a bit of a non issue as the OP already has full fibre to the building - at perfectly reasonable prices.0
