totally separate to that, the OP has sent an unsolicited item to Amazon (ie the wrong phone) - they have received it and binned it as they have no procedure on their system to deal with unsolicited items received.
    They do have a procedure.
    It's to bin it.

Not totally seperate though as it's not like the OP randomly sent an item to Amazon.
  • I hate to say it (again) but this could end up an expensive lesson about checking - and doublechecking - what you return to retailers for a refund.
I’ve cancelled returning it Id sooner just hold onto it than risk this again since I still have no guarantee the one I returned is in fact the wrong one
And Amazon have just left it at that?
If so, buy the one you want from Amazon and send back the one you don't want.

  • The OP can sue Amazon EU and they may win by default, but as they have no tangible UK assets they have to take it to Luxembourg for enforcement
Do they not own stock or buildings?
Not larger trucks, or even the smaller Amazon branded ones...
Because there's three near me that have huge Amazon signs on them.

The buildings are probably leased. The trucks could be leased too, or else the trucks could belong to a trucking company and just have Amazon logos on.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

The trucks and stuff might belong to Amazon EU

    How's that going to work?

What the OP says has happened is that he and his wife bought two identical laptops - she bought one from Currys and he bought one from Amazon.  The OP wanted to get a refund on his that he had bought from Amazon, but instead of returning to Amazon the one that he bought from them, he sent his wife's off to Amazon - the one that she had bought from Currys(!).  (Please don't bother to ask how this could possibly happen... )

Upon receipt of the wrong laptop Amazon informed the OP that they couldn't process a refund as the OP had not returned to them the laptop that he had bought from them.  When the OP asked for the "Currys" laptop to be returned to him, Amazon informed him that they could not do so as it had been "discarded".

Thus the OP is currently down one laptop and down one refund.  If he does as you suggest, he will still be in the same position, won't he, because his wife's laptop from Currys will remain "discarded" by Amazon with no refund?

  • Presumably the stock Amazon holds belongs to Amazon EU since that's who it was purchased from?

All makes me glad I only buy on Amazon as a last resort. Big tech is evil.

How so many people can be returning the wrong item is beyond comprehension.

As an Ebay trader of many years standing. I was duped by somebody claiming that the collectible toy soldier figure I had sent was damaged. Therefore returned it for a refund. Knew it wasn't. So subsequently started using an invisble marker on the figures. Then could prove that returned figures in the future weren't the ones dispatched. The world is full of people who'll happily take your money given the chance.
