  • All your plans sound so positive. I love the idea of the church.

I’m not religious but I like the peace I find at church. There’s something soothing about it. Christmas music always makes me feel so emotional as well so I’d be filling up listening to the concert!

Sounds like memory making and not money spending.

Congratulations on how you’re ending the year.

    Day 180

Wasn’t a bad day yesterday after all, another busy one today though.

Last few Christmas presents etc to buy this coming weekend and wife agreed to stop there. I hope she does tbh I think she will she reckons she’s ready to move on. Going to try to get into the spirit from tomorrow, Mrs is putting up our lights etc as a surprise for son tomorrow. Half expecting to have to go home to help her or send her dad - not easy to do on your own but she reckons she can manage it.

@enthusiasticsaver can’t imagine it really snows much your way? I wish I could have got a picture for him of the deer but there was only 3 so no time to reach for phone.

@Grumpelstiltskin Definitely on my long list - more a spring / summer thing though? After seeing the deer yesterday reminded me I’ve not been to Wollaton in quite a while planning to hopefully have a walk around there some time this/ next weekend.

@Willowtree222 thank you. Just getting started haha.

My Mrs want to go to Vivaldi concert - that was a bit more money than I thought it would be but all other events are free. Going to try to take son to see Christmas trees and hear / sing the carols.
  • The concert will be worth it. It's not wasted money if it is something that truly will be wonderful for you and remembered. It's always about the balance. Spending £500 on a coat that you'll wear a few times or £500 on a holiday that will give you time, memories and relaxation. I struggle with the balance sometimes, but think you have started to get it a lot more.

I think you'll eventually start to love Christmas. I see it as another ECQ!

  • Alt you only see the Seal pups November or December, so it has to be in the next few weeks or leave it for next year.

Day 180 - there must be something to be done with that number :) 6m fast approaching too.

All your plans sound great @alt80. More about experiences, less about things. Concerts and carol services, you'll be shedding a tear with the rest of us soon.

Don't know if it is still there but there used to be a cracking burger van in the car park at Donna Nook when the seals were pupping.

Not been for a few years now. Don't fancy leaving the dog in the car and they are not allowed on the reserve while the seal pups are there.

Shouldn’t really be up at this time but I am despite saying I’d have an early night, I’m still awake and should go to bed really. Busy day and trouble switching off tonight, had my tea but I think I’m going to have to have a podcast in bed lol. Not spent any money though.

@Willowtree222 thank you. Because I have no access easily to personal money, buying things on impulse can’t happen. Have to pass a potential purchase onto my wife no surprises good (unfortunately) or bad (better for everyone I think).

    Hope so re Christmas.

@Grumpelstiltskin thank you I was at work so had intention of clicking the link later. Have now and wow there’s thousands of them. My son would love to see them and wife and I would too. I’m sure the weather will be !!!!!! awful on the coast but going to check with wife see if we have a spare day this or next weekend or will do next year - thank you again!

@warby68 not far from 6m at all, lol I’ve shed enough tears to last a !!!!!! lifetime these past few years. I’m trying to give my boy the childhood I should have given him so far but have failed with and hopefully help with my recovery also.

@RelievedSheff it says there’s caterers on the website.

It said do not take dogs and the seals actually sound quite dangerous tbh.

Hi - I live near to Donna Nook.  There is a wire fence between the dunes and seals, and where people can walk.  It does get very busy. One of the local farmers opens his fields for parking and usually there is a burger type catering van. The nearest place for a meal in in North Somercotes. There are two pubs - the Axe and Cleaver which does a variety of meals and the Bay Horse which just serves jacket potatoes, pizzas or toasted sandwiches. Both are bright and friendly places. Nothing else to do though - you would have to travel 16 miles up the coast to Cleethorpes but at this time of year a lot of the amusements etc are closed for the season. We usually go and see the seals and the grandkids have always loved it.  Dogs aren't allowed on the path where you walk to see them because they can frighten the seal pups.

Afternoon, just checking in, amazing to see the progress you have made, awesome mate. I recommend the drink aware app for setting goals and marking DFD (drink free days) I and my GF use it, she was drinking double her weekly recommended allowance. I rarely drink but its good to keep a check, simple app, highly recommended. Especially as you like to use spreadsheets and forecast's like myself.
