First Steps to Solvency

Totally agree with what everyone else has said and support GM4L with offsetting overspends against the remaining annual allowance.
What your wife does isn't the norm. She is buying superficial friendships, money runs out and so will they. I would say hopefully she will begin to see that one day, but it's doubtful until she's older and looks back on all the previous years.
I've friends of all ages, when we go out it's to places we can all afford. We split restaurant bills according to head count, pubs and clubs we buy our own drinks, on birthday nights out we may get a couple of free drinks slipped our way.
One particular mate has more money in the bank than I will ever earn in my lifetime and will be a multi-millionare when her parent passes away. She would never dream of doing what your wife does and loves bargain hunting, not because she's tight, but she only spends what she earns; minimum self-employed income like you but has a quality of life (normally) from her work most could only dream of and it makes her happy.

Agree about the offsetting, but also agree about not making a fight if its counter productive
I know its a bit weak, but I view some small spends as just relieving a bit of pressure/need/desire and saves a potential major meltdown. which shouldn't happen in a well planned/disciplined world, but that's not always what we getI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

Day 34 through. Bit merry earlier tbh ha but not gone too overboard. Can't stop looking at the !!!!!! news app just to see if it's real and that England really have got through to the final fml def got their work cut out with Italy but every faith in those lads to do their best to bring it home. They've smashed it getting there and think I can speak on behalf of the whole country right now in saying those lads have 100% done everyone proud and brought some real joy to what has been a tough year.
Shouldn't be up at this time I was up early yesterday and struggled sleeping last night, well and truly whacked right now bed after writing this I think.
@Grumpelstiltskin she used to be into it. Lockdown happened and it's about a year since she had the last lot. Not lying when I say I hope she stays away from it but her choice ultimately.
@rugbymadfamily the rewards don't always match the work put in I know where you're coming from but my wife wouldn't find me telling her how many sets of nails something costs amusing. Her solution is I need to bring some more cash home and out the business ha.
Haha you and my Mrs both have memories of staying up late at about son's age for Euro 96. Yeah he stayed up and wouldn't go to bed haha he was buzzing, so happy and brilliant to see him like that. During the old days I wouldn't have stayed in really glad I did. The whole tournament has been amazing for not going out tbh really enjoyed this and the Six Nations earlier this year with family def some thanks to you lot on here for me getting those opportunities to have a nice time with family rather than the usual football night. Didn't miss that at all.
@getmore4less I have done mate she kicked off this afternoon after I told her. According to her there's no !!!!!! way she's sticking to the annuals despite agreeing to them. Idk no solution ha.
@MovingForwards Tbf I think she's just generous and likes to treat her mates. It's just annoying right now tbh I'm just whinging ha. Relate to your mate re enjoying my work def I'm lucky in that respect.
@mark55man I know where you're coming from sometimes just trips me off a bit, having a whinge nothing else ha. Probably !!!!!! jealously when I've got access to £20 cash and work like a !!!!!! to provide her with whatever whim is next lol. Past month she's spent £230 on a bag, £380 on a belt, £195 on clothes yesterday and load of planned outings with her mates over summer, big night out for freedom day etc.3 -
Anyone in need of a laugh at my expense ha there’s def something wrong with me just looked at my news app some story about a Spanish bloke walking his dying dog up a mountain in a wheelbarrow and I was !!!!!! sobbing like a baby 3 sentences into the article. Idk what the !!!!!! is wrong with me 100% I didn’t used to be like this fml.1

Day 35 and no plan to spend, working will keep me busy for the day and hoping to get a few jobs done later. Going to plant the seeds with son.
Not woken up feeling great tbh so one of my goals today is to just get through and get an early night. 2 late nights with early starts in a row - I can’t do that anymore and I don’t keep it in check leads to stupid decisions and right now I’m doing ok.0 -
Message from one of my staff, I half expected him to be sick today but ‘u know how it is mate’ as his sign off?! Yeah I do but fml just somewhere you don’t go imo ha maybe just getting old who knows.0

With the final being on a school night might as well shut the office on Monday.........0

@getmore4less it’s crossed my mind tbh also have to balance the already booked workload though - 3/4 weeks ago did anyone seriously think England would actually be in the final? So I don’t accept its poor planning ha. 😆 Not all my staff are into football can just about rejig things and give them a day off. I won’t be drinking too much either - staying home 100%. Actually enjoying it more in a relatively sober state and haven’t missed goals.0

Maybe to be "fare" an extra day or 1/2 day for everyone and those that choose to hold the fort on Monday get to use it another time.
2 days to plan a bit, and for those that know they would prefer to not be in to book as holiday rather than pull a sickie
You may find some of those jobs are for people that would prefer you did not have them come in Monday morning and will happily move them.1 -
@getmore4less that’s the plan - not having staff working without a day off in lieu when the only reason some of them will be off is because I know they’ll get !!!!!! out of their brains. 🙄 I’d like to think I’m at least fair with staff. Might be the worlds biggest !!!!!! for every other measurable element in my life but I do look after my staff.
