If you like boats the Norfolk Broads would be good. Rent a cottage somewhere and hire a day boat.
Loads to see and do in that area. We love it there and it's where we caught the boating bug.2 -
One of the hotels we stayed in there was brilliant, more of a suite than a room, think it was the Stratford Thistle but it’s probably changed brands since then. Can’t beat lunch in the Mucky Duck (Black Swan) by the river 🤣 We used to go to a nice hotel/gastro pub near Stroud a lot but the last time we went it had gone downhill which was a shame.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

You don't build trust over night, it takes time and commitment.
Norfolk is nice as is Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia and Dorset. In a way you could just get a map of the UK, throw a dice, see where it lands and book a weekend away or write loads of place on paper, put them in a hat and see what you pull out.
Food is a universal language, can't go wrong talking about it!Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -

Don't blame you!

Definitely North Norfolk is a great place to go and not much further than Skeggy. Another place we went to pre Mr SA’s illness.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

@RelievedSheff a bug I could really do without catching is the boating bug haha. Tbf I've never been to Norfolk and not somewhere I've looked into.
@Sun_Addict Lol you're bringing some memories back mate lol. Hotel now known as The Arden by the looks of it and recently refurbished rooms look good but fml you've got me spending my money again haha.
@MovingForwards You'd get on with my dad re food universal language that's something he's always said and why he loves Greece - they LOVE food.
My son would love that map idea let him pick lol and the camping tea I'm still going to do that.

It was The Bear of Rodborough we stayed at in Stroud. In the middle of nowhere yet close to the centre by car. We used to just pick places a couple of hours drive of Notts and go.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Day 29 through. Get through tomorrow and I've made it to goal 1 on the night England will crush Ukraine 4-2 according to son. I'm calling a close 1-0 and my wife reckons it's going to penalties which we're all actually hoping doesn't happen because England and penalties fml not usually a good outcome. Anyway to ready ourselves for the Ukraine match we are being 100% !!!!!! predictable and having chicken kiev. Homemade using my dad's recipe, wife has been on the phone for it today so yeah food really is a !!!!!! universal language eating Ukrainian food using the recipe of an authentic Greek Englishman who's assured my son his bet is on a Ukraine win and football heartache is all part of the British experience. He's got !!!!!! miserable in his old age. Son's told him he's just jealous because his country didn't even get in lol.
Last night had a look at the cards - looking like I can clear my current crop of 0% with rolling the BMW payment in with a shortfall of £1880 by the time the last 0% is due Nov-22. This is assuming current spending remaining on plan.
Spends on holidays / days out / clothes / presents etc is capped at £13.8k/a or £1150/m assuming no new commitments / debt and variable expenses (food / alcohol / coffees out / petrol and general entertainment) not exceeding £1250/m. It shouldn't be hard told wife people are running entire households including the mortgage and bills for £2.4k/m. Tbh think a couple of her siblings are probably only £500ish a month off doing just that and they always seem happy with their lot.
This will see me debt free 5 years from now not accounting for any additional income from wife / sales / major blips but accounted for bit of inflation / school fees rising. Writing it in black and white makes me think my wife and I can do this although making it happen is a lot harder than forecasting it I defnitely know that you lot have to keep me on track ha. Just for fun I showed my wife the figures assuming all remains the same post-debt pay off and we don't commit to a larger mortgage we'd have iro £4.75k/m surplus. Seems absolutely unreal to me to have that kind of surplus, I've always had a lot of credit commitments. Tbh if I get to that point I'll work out what we'd like to do over and above what we are able to do for the next 5 years and keep the rest retained to reinvest can always leverage some fun off that ha. I'm !!!!!! amazed tbh said to wife we could have a year or two off any credit commitments post-payoff just have a bit of a stress free couple of years.3
