Your ideas are just all about you!1 -
alt80 said:My problem is I need to get one car that does the job of two. Wife needs to be able to use it for day to day and would be nice if it’s good for the weekend too. Tbh I wouldn’t care if she bought an estate so long as it was something reasonable if I had an AM and my Range Rover.Ultimately, I’ve got a decent family car another one not really needed. To my mind if we get a c coupe that would work well and if I could stretch it to a cayman not as practical (2 seats) but opens up doing some car stuff at least. Even the base one new is quick enough, meant to handle really well decent drivers by all accounts, wife can use in week and if the weather’s right I can leave her with the Range. Appreciate my mates into cars might laugh a bit but better than having no sports car imo.Not a need - a want.If you get a second car which isn't practical for the dog, bikes etc you will find your wife claiming the RR more and more of the time and you driving whatever the other car is. Which seems rather strange to me in light of how much of your finances you are choosing to put to owning that RR. And your wife out for long walks with the dog sounds much better and cheaper than being on IG. If the second car is very cheap and practical it will be less time before you can afford a third.2 seater really not practical for having more of a family life and the three of you enjoying things together.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Why are you still so bothered by what others might think?
Your car image was built around debt so not real anyway, why try to perpetuate that?

You’re not helping things here, this will be predominantly your wife’s car so she should have a say in what she wants, it’s not about you all the time !Sealed pot challenge 822

Stop being so b****y selfish, not everything in life is all about you, sounds if your wife is being extremely sensible, for goodness sake forget the image stuff. You have got your beloved RR and are setting yourself up for having an AM at some stage, be satisfied.
Well done on the 62? days. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I get the issue is I’m trying to get something she can use that’ll be fun too. She’s back looking at the electric cars - Mercedes EQC, Audi Etron and I-Pace her latest argument now is ‘accountant says’ hahaha couldn’t help but ask her when she’s ever cared about that lol.I get financially the above all make a lot more sense but why would I buy another but significantly worse SUV? I’ve got one SUV I need something different to balance the driveway iyswim. It’s not about image don’t know how many times I have to say this but I’m a car guy and she doesn’t get that thinks it’s better to have another big truck through the business and look towards getting a used AM in a few years. Her words can get a DB7 for £25k or v8 vantage for £35k FML she’s on autotrader putting me in the !!!!!! cheapest Aston going and nothing until then. Great.
Last few years for the big petrol V8s and V12s and she wants me to spend two of them !!!!!! weekendcarless.0 -

Possibly am getting a bit too angry about it tbf. Weather is perfect for a run out in the f-type today. I’m missing it badly tbh wish I’d kept it got rid of the BMW at the first opportunity instead though would have had the balloon to find for the f-type even sooner, wouldn’t have worked.Logically she’s right about looking towards these electric cars. It makes a lot more sense from a financial point of view and better for both us and the business ultimately. My problem is I can’t face owning one. Suppose it’s like my failure will be sat there on my drive lol. Tbh also part of me would like to be able to go to a few car events and have a few drive outs. Can’t do that in my Range Rover. Maybe that’s just escaping family stuff on my part idk. Just can’t face not having a sports car of any description, wife bringing this up when the weather is right just sent my anger to the next level.@RelievedSheff if it was just the badges I’d probably drive a diesel Range Rover. Wouldn’t bother with the V8 if all I cared about was a badge. I like luxury cars / GTs that’s my thing doesn’t mean I’m not into cars because I’m not into building something from the ground up and maintaining it myself. I get you / your OH are into cars on some level with having the Sierra but neither of you are bothered about your day to day cars, just a different side to it.1

I don't understand your reluctance to have an electric car from the point of view of it being on the drive. As far as I can see lots of better off people have one. I do understand the sports car I had an old MX5 and loved it. Yes I know all the jokes but they are great little cars and no I was not a hairdresser.1

A genuine car person wouldn't be seen dead in a Range Rover 🤣🤣🤣
At some point you are going to have to go electric. Why not let the missus have one now if she wants one?
You are working towards getting the AM. That will be your car. Let the wife have some say in what will be her car.2
