Sounds like a nice day and good you are learning how to relax. Well done on the AF streak.

@enthusiasticsaver think you’re right tbh is almost like some kind of learning curve. Sounds ridiculous I know ha.
Yeah would be nice tbh they haven’t seen my son in person since he was 3. Speak a lot on FaceTime but as everyone now appreciates not the same. Wife open to going to Greece this year too, previous years we’ve done the whole luxury holiday thing so not got around to going feel a bit guilty about that as parents wanted us to go but I’d already had 2 weeks off over the year felt I couldn’t have more. Staff get a lot more time off irony is I’m quite generous with my holiday policy - staff 100 work better when they get time with their family but I do appreciate 100% not their business so their priorities different and whilst I do expect work to be one I know they don’t love my business as much as I do.2 -
A holiday to see your parents sounds like a great idea. Your son will love it as well. Shouldn't be an expensive holiday either. Get it booked it will give you all something to look forward to for later in the year.1

Speaking as a grandparent book that trip to Greece. We all need to be able to hug our grandchildren especially after the past year. Greece is a lovely country and the people are friendly or at least they were when we went for our honeymoon many many years ago and I cant think they will have changed. Your parents and son will love it and as your parents are getting older you never know how long you will have them. Sorry if that sounds morbid.

Not a great nights sleep last night. Better than lately though so not going to complain.
Another busy work day tbf I am sleeping better knowing I’ve got a lot of work booked rather than anticipating that I’m going to be feeling ill and booking less.Ha I’ve been to Greece lots, as a child we went there on holiday always somewhere properly remote lol and I’ve been island hopping with my wife quite a few times before son was born and IG was a thing. Tbh best hols I’ve had and good on the wallet too. Lots of hills to walk but accommodation is generally very basic.
@ladyholly yeah just a tad morbid! Tbf I do think my parents are invincible and my dad is closer to 75 than 70 these days so yeah probably not.2 -
I think part of the problem is you have been paying for rubbish, expensive IG fuelled time away from your comfort zone
You do tend to be extreme all or nothing and your defence to the rubbish holidays spends on holidays is no holidays.
It is pretty obvious that a Greece trip to your parents has to happen its been to long and should happen at least once if not twice a year, you need to see them, your kid needs to see them, you like it there more than you seem to want to admit.
(I would plan one trip when the weather is better there than here although we have done eastern med in Nov/Dec/Jan before and it can get cold and wet)
One thing I can tell you your regrets about some of the things you have done are troubling you now, they will feel insignificant if you don't go and see parents more often while you can, because there comes a time you cannot go and see them.

You see its not just me. My dad died in his 50s so none of us ever knows when we will lose someone. Make the booking and give them some pleasure and something to look forward to in seeing their son and grandson.

Just don't like to think of anything happening to my parents tbh. Probably have almost been denying they are in the latter stages of their lives but used to be quite close as a family before they !!!!!! off there. Been 15 years since we've met up as a family. Probably some of reason I hate sitting thorough the in-laws BBQs/ expectations idk. Some big regrets not visiting past few years tbf and last time we went there I was not well at all had been on the stuff quite heavily for months preceding and 100 wasn't going to tell my parents why I was the way I was haha.
Seems the potential dates are summer (not convinced will suit BoJo tbh so not booking) or October for school. Have been in the winter before and you're 100 right about the weather it's not amazing through the winter months there weather wise.3 -

I agree that booking flights to Greece would be good, but would be very cautious about booking anything that isn't fully refundable given the present uncertainties. You have had some good and busy days with less time left to fill than you are perhaps used to - sounds excellent to me!But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
