Not having the best day today work keeping mind busy generally at least but 100% BoJo’s announcement again just different reasons ha. Knew it was going to happen but having the dates in mind, can live with never sitting in a cafe for my lunch again if it means no shops and pubs. Feels like impending doom lol. Know it’s better for the economy for everything to be open and I’m pleased for all those who have been affected, just really panicking for myself. Wife mentioned a weekend away again got the budget to do it but really don’t want to be dragged off somewhere where’s the potential to spend money either.

Just trying to get through day right now. Re wife/ jobs etc it’s a bit of a nightmare tbh completely get where everyone coming from on here but if it’s something she’s on board with it doesn’t tend to last. Job like working in JL likely to be odd hours / weekends etc too she 100 wouldn’t do that.

@getmore4less that was my plan for her or something similar but she doesn’t want it and I don’t if she doesn’t iyswim. Also question right now if women post lockdown will be spending less on this stuff generally - seen they can save a lot and live without it ha.

@alt80 but the stuff she spends money on she could have easily lived without before lockdown. It is all about what is important to her and that seems to be her looks which is a shame if she feels her worth is in her looks. I understand wanting to look nice but not to the extent she is crying over fake lives on instagram.

Know where you are coming from with the opening up non essential retail and hospitality again. We are also looking at the dates knowing full well that they will be the dates when our budget will most likely go out of the window again :)

It will take a bit of rejuggling of numbers but I'm sure we can make the numbers work again. Same for you I'm sure.

@enthusiasticsaver.  From memory it is 186 miles. I broke it down into sections of about 12-15 miles a day, the longest day was 17 miles, but as the path contains a lot of very steep sections, 15 miles was more than enough for me in one day! We are in the process of moving to the coast of north Wales so will be tackling some of that coast soon, although there are not so many hills on that coast.

I am also dreading everything reopening as it's helped serve my debt for the last few months. Just today I've received a message about a hen weekend looking to go ahead in September. That will put all budgets out the window.

If you’re worried about spending post lockdown why don’t you look into pre paid cards now for the both of you to eliminate any overspending? I’m sure that if you have one your wife can’t really refuse to have one.

I'm with you alt on holidays. Never could understand why people like forking out 1000s a year for that stuff. It's fine if you can get a bit of value but I do think many do it just out of habit/routine.
Heard on the news this morning about the "surge in holiday bookings" after BoJo's announcement and had a wry chuckle 😏

If you’re not keen on holidays and your wife is, could she go with her parents and take your son for a week? Maybe share a villa somewhere. Personally I’m with your wife on this one, I love my holidays.

Thanks all, it’s not just the spending tbh I don’t actually think I’ll go mad with that not sure why I’m thinking that way but things do feel a lot different for me having spent so long agonising over the numbers, I think I’ve also managed to work out what’s important and what’s ‘value’ to me. Just don’t want any part of my ‘normal’. No idea if that makes any sense.

Had a good session on the exercise this morning and a decent walk this evening so between that, work and helping my son with a bit of his school work had a day too full to really think too much about it. Night time arrives though and thinking about it again but we realistically aren’t going to stay in lockdown forever, just can’t happen I know. Been another mad day on the work but still managed to spend a good few hours with family this evening get out for the walk etc. Probably doesn’t sounds much but I’m enjoying this now. Weekend plans are rugby and long walk again keep it simple. Rugby snacks already got lol. I’m hoping to have a few hours to just sit and read a bit 100% sounds sad most likely. Had wife’s phone for the day again lol quieter on IG tbh spent best part of this afternoon working out how to play purple haze on the piano and taught son the main riff haha. At least that is free and she’s not banging on about other women’s looks ha.

Don’t completely hate holidays, just 2 one week breaks a year would be good for me don’t need to spend a lot on that. @TheAble haha not just me then when I saw that news! Don’t want to be spending thousand upon thousands on getting photos for wife’s IG again and if wife decided to go with in-laws that’d be fine by me. My parents asked me today if I’ve booked the flights to see them this summer. Haven’t and tbh I wonder if BoJo just being massively optimistic but if it works out will go over October half term I think parents want us to go for the 2 weeks but I’m not sure about that tbh probably just end up working half of it for them lol.

Know in-laws impromptu BBQs will start again when the weather gets better and we can them telling me it’d be ‘nice’ to see me. Yeah sure it would.

Done absolutely nothing on the finances and whacked now. Tbh the sheet is set up ready to go for next month, just need to fully reconcile this month and I’m done for Feb.

Meant to add still on the AF streak but not sure I’m getting through the rugby without a beer this Saturday lol.
