Made a massive difference for me even with the sleep being bad life a bit better when not fuelled by coke and credit look back and think WTAF was I doing with my life just hope I can keep it up when Boris decides we can go to a shop again.

My online shop arrives tonight and I need to work late so am half tempted to get started on the wine tonight  Probably shouldn't though ha.

Do think I am due a booze break though tbh. So might attempt a couple of weeks off. For a start I'd save loads of money. It's hard when it's the only fun you can have at the moment  As soon as my mind isn't busy with work I get fed up and fancy a drink out of boredom.

Vegan is a no no for me ha. Even veggie would be tough.

@alt80 oh wow; well done!  Keep going,  30 days without is such an achievement.   Agree 100% with @Purplelady65 re coaching and the adult to child analysis; I think it might also be called transactional analysis.  One of the many problems with SM, esp IG is that it prioritises lifestyle at the expense of life; come a global pandemic and it all comes tumbling down and we're all back to plain grub and elbow grease.  IG is totally artificial and in my view responsible for many mental problems. I do a bit of voluntary debt coaching; one stand out moment was when someone said that they'd realised that they'd been spending money they didn't have on things they didn't need; all to impress people they didn't even like.  Sounds similar in some ways to your wife's situation.   It's not really about money is it; it's about a crash course in reality.  Of course it will be hard.  Her parents' attitude sounds utterly inconsistent too:  encouraging her to tot up her worth in monetary terms while being left wing.  Am I reading that right? You both have a value that's unaffected by money and the sooner your wife can see that the better.  It might be worth talking to your FIL about this or even your wife's siblings? If they start berating you about your vile capitalist habits, you could always point out that until the system changes, it's better that landlords like you with a conscience and a desire to do the right thing are better than many others.  Your wife's so called friend needs to go.  Keep going Humdinger

     Full agree with this.

She clearly has problems which need addressing. You can't blame yourself for that and you need to try to get her to realise that she needs to seek help for her issues.

I think this is where the two of you sitting down and having an open and honest conversation with each other about your future together will really help.

I’ve been number crunching - effort to remove the personal from business and work out where I’m really 'starting' from. Decided this is the new start haha. Feel pretty !!!!!! embarrassed about this tbt in my head always been worth a lot more probably in my head thought I was worth more in my 20s with a cheaper res home and a couple of BTLs haha I really wasn’t but always felt like a !!!!!! millionaire, could BS it quite well ha probably why I spent like one lol. Not even at £300k in my personal name. OK not counting bits like jewellery/ watches etc which total c.£30k mainly the wife’s ha but FML more !!!!!! embarrassed about this than admitting to the chang by a long way ha didn’t think it was this bad but is. Literally !!!!!! red in the face ha. Always lumped the res BTLs in with this so never worked it out properly made me feel a bit richer, probably knew I’d be ashamed and yeah irl I just say I’ve got well into 7 figures worth of property 100 don’t talk about LTV. Even my wife and family I’ve given the whole ‘7 figures’ chat to on more than one occasion in the past.

Going to put this up even though I am embarrassed about it anyway ha most people probably think I've admitted to worse stuff idk. Car values are approximate, used Autotrader comps and knocked a bit off as never get as much as a dealer will. No BTLs in my personal name so all property except for res home is excluded and yeah I know how bad that BMW loan is before anyone says anything ha.

The number crunching is missing some significant assets of net worth.
