@RelievedSheff thanks mate, I’m impatient as always haha. Can’t be gone soon enough.3

@Nicnak hahaha that made me laugh. Tbf your job is probably hilarious.@enthusiasticsaver yeah know what you mean. Holidays a lot of the time just going mad on the spending. When we’ve been on the quiet hols just chilled stuff walking, beach, whatever. Don’t tend to go mad on the drinking like a lot of people just time off really.
@warby68 re car I don’t stop Wife driving any car. If I buy an old car which won’t lost money she can use it as her everyday car so no punishment tbh. Might not buy a car idk all money towards the debts right now. Just don’t see the point buying another car that massively depreciates or is just a drain in other ways really - contract hire.@FootyFanDan get her off to work if she’s keen mate lol.Suppose I’m where you are really mate, make all the savings rather than wasting money.
@theoretica not really looking for more parenting responsibilities mate got enough as it is. Make sure I spend some time each evening with him.1 -
BoJo thinking about shutting the market down again apparently FML. Report is from The Mirror so could be a load of !!!!!! tbf. I honestly could punch the guy. Getting !!!!!! ridiculous now.1

Other thing re: car. Definitely don’t need two cars while restrictions are ongoing. I guess it’s something that can be reviewed on an ongoing basis. When restrictions are lifted does she need to drive your son to school and will you need the car at that time? Other than that not convinced the second car is a necessity or some kind of punishment for the wife.I’ve got an Audi A4 going cheap if you need a runaround

Variable spends £470
No spend day. Did have an expensed Costa lunch haha not being weird about that again staff spend enough anyway lol. Hate eating in my car but the weather was awful. Missing sitting in cafes lol.
Sturgeon shut the market down in Scotland so seems a bit too close now. Feel sick tbh just thinking about another covid lockdown. Granted I 100 put myself at risk of getting it, some of the places I go to absolutely no chance of keeping social distancing/ other rules they should be adhering too. Wife has been begging the in-laws to form a childcare bubble they refused and tbh I think it’s fair enough given my work and the fact wife is always here to look after him anyway. FIL keeps sending me weird messages about keeping safe think it’s hilarious tbh obv doesn’t want me taking it home to his princess and grandson lol but won’t tell me outright that’s why he messages haha.
Made an effort to have an evening with family. Dinner, walk, story and TV so not exactly taxing lol. Not getting too annoyed about the conversation topic haha yeah she probably thinks my topics of convo are boring lol. Not thought about it like that tbf. Do usually spend all evening in my office so maybe it is me with nothing else going on in my life haha. Quite nice to spend some time in another room. I should make more an effort maybe looking like plenty of time for the date nights soon haha will be nothing else to do lol.
Going to try to go to bed at a reasonable time and take one of those herbal pills lol. Told wife she can keep me accountable. Definitely have a better mindset when I get a better night’s sleep. More productive in the day too generally and less likely to wind up working into the night.
Another good week so far on the business front, just need an announcement from BoJo to say we can just get on with it, will reassure me. Can’t stop working most days, not managed the email switch off/ work switch off this week at all apart from tonight. Last week I did and tbh better week altogether. Wife nagging me to not work just adds to stress levels tbh. I should take my anger about stuff out on her bit ashamed of my behaviour past few days after a decent week last.
Car:
Not going to be buying anything in lockdown. No way am I click and collecting a car want to drive it first.
Thought behind getting something like an XJS / mates MG centre around the fact it isn’t a depreciating asset and will make 1/3-1/2 cost of a used V8V. Not sure why people on here think this is madness tbh financially it 100 makes the most sense - putting money (albeit borrowed) into an appreciating asset or at worst one which will remain static in value.
Not driven the mini. Main thing holding me back is it’s just not my kind of car. Thinking there’s a win with wife having a weekday car and me something for weekend with above option.
@ryanm8655😆😆😆 nice try mate think I’ll pass though lol.
Driving son to school not a massive deal it’s walkable.
Wife and I watched the tower bridge programme on channel 5, it was quite good worth a watch if you like history/ engineering. Thought of you with London connection.
@theoretica haha maybe you’ve got a point.

Who does the grocery shopping? Very hard work with no car unless you have everything delivered. I know you can't go anywhere at the moment but will it isolate your wife if she doesn't have a car. Just thoughts as I am no longer allowed to drive due to vision problems so I know how difficult it can be.

We've done the car thing to death of course, but the reasons why it doesn't make sense are a) you already have a car; b) the car you have has a large amount of capital tied up in it (capital which could be earning you an income if invested); c) buying yet another car, even if it doesn't depreciate, is still going to cost you in capital tied up (see point b), insurance, tax, maintenance, fuel.
You still have zero savings, isn't that right? Why not put some money in that direction instead.1
