I've never managed to get it free, have bought it from a shop on ebay before, might see if the local health food shop has it as we don't have a Morrisons near by.One day I might be more organised...........

I'm going to have to stick to the dried yeast because I am way too shy to ask for it at the bakery section.I'd be scared stiff they'd make me look a fool
Great moneysaving tip though if you have more guts than me

LesleyxxBut no-one else'll be able to hear you probably, just puff out your chest and say "Excuse me, do you have any fresh yeast please?" that way you might be asking if they sell it or if (hopefully) they give it away free.
I know what you mean though. I used to ask for my bread to be sliced in Sainsburys - they were sooooooo miserable about it, so I used to be ultra chirpy with them! Well, it made me feel better!!! :rotfl:"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -
Is it just my local store or have all Tesco stores stopped giving out fresh yeast?
The baker said he was not allowed to anymore....
Looks like ASDA have a new customer:rolleyes:
Is anyone else having tesco trouble with yeast?0 -
I got some at my tesco in halifax about 3 weeks ago but haven't tried since as he gave me a HUGE chunk which will last ages. I'll ask next time I go in though and will let you know. Shame if they have stopped it.Tess x

It's not illegal to sell yeast, or bakeries, pizza shops etc wouldn't be able to buy it. Some Waitrose stores sell it, health food shop and home brew places aswell. Some Sainsburys bakeries will sell it also. It's freezable, I usually use icecube trays so I can freeze in the small amounts I need. One day I might be more organised...........
