I've just been into a local supermarket, and I asked at the bakery if I could purchase some fresh yeast, the reply I got was "No" we are not allowed to sell it to customers. So I phone head office, and yup it's true, they are not allowed to sell it due to health and safety!
Now I am sure I read somewhere that a bakery/bakers had to be able to offer yeast to the public, am I dreaming or is it true?
Thanks all

Try a "real" bakery? If you can find one these days, that is.

My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
the really nice bakers in our Tesco give me yeast, but it's just occurred to me that I should have "declared" it at the till to be weighed and....... ooops!!!!0

My asda give out fresh yeast free if you ask at the bread counter.Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0

Our Tesco give it for free - and if you declare it at the till, they don't want to know. Sainsburys sell it for 16p regardless of how much you get - which makes me feel better - lol“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
