Weird. Wholesale price was only £2/MWh at 7am yet there was very little wind (and no solar generation) according to Electric Insights. I expect the price will rocket up during the day as it’s pretty dull here.

If you click the little green arrow, you can get the day-ahead price as well as the real-time one. Day-ahead at 7am was almost £115/MWh. The real-time price is from the balancing mechanism and relatively little power will trade at that price. (From Elexon it looks like there was only 12MWh offered at that price, if I'm reading the data correctly.)

Thanks for the Elexon link. I had noted and been been surprised by the disconnect between the live price and day ahead prices and the Elexon link helps understand that.

  • The Go Agile App on Android is good for comparing the difference between two tariffs.
You can choose the Go Faster tariffs to compare with Agile too.

Saturday is forecast to be windy pretty much everywhere across the UK.
It will be interesting to see how low Agile prices go!

There are only 5 half hour slots tomorrow (between 2am and 5am) when the price is less than the maximum 35p. Today the average wholesale price just happens to have averaged 35p/kWh with a couple of peaks over £3/kWh (£3000/MWh).
