Anyone on Outgoing Agile with a home battery could have made a few quid this evening!Tomorrow's prices aren't quite as extreme but are still over £1/kWh from 1730 to 2030.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

And to think Ovo are taking what comes out of my car battery for only 26p/unit.
I am thinking if someone on Octopus Outgoing could hook up a link from their neighbours incoming supply to their outgoing and make a fortune 'on the turn'...I think....0 -
Maybe this might not help
Missing generators
At time of writing, over 17 gigawatts (GW) of energy generation is offline – this is 22% of the entire UK fleet. Some of this is because of planned maintenance, but many gas, coal and nuclear power plants are currently experiencing unplanned outages. Five nuclear reactors are currently offline, but only two of these were planned for. On Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at the facility managing an interconnector in Kent – this is a high voltage cable which transports power between the UK and France.
All this means margins are tighter, and nearly all available generation is required to meet demand. This will always mean that prices are higher, but the situation is being manipulated by some in order to maximise profits. Generators are required to declare their projected output to National Grid ahead of time, and some fossil fuel plants have been using this process to leverage significant premiums, demanding up to £4000 per MWh at times of the day when demand is highest. For context, typical consumption for one UK home is just under 3MWh per year.

Will cheap overnight electricity always be available?
I’ve been watching this guy’s videos on EVs and solar for some time now. Interesting one here on how Agile is no longer at its cheapest overnight and if this will be the future. Are OctopusEnergy’s cheap night time tariffs likely to disappear?

michaels said:I wonder what the export prices are - even with just a home use battery pricing like this could really reduce the payback period.Outgoing Agile looks like this (the green line is the 5.5p non-Agile rate):Screen cap from https://www.energy-stats.uk/Sadly for battery owners, there are relatively few days of the year where you can buy power for free overnight then sell it back to the grid for 25p/kWh the following evening.N.
