Well, if you look at the wholesale prices yesterday Octopus must be taking a big hit. From about 7.30pm for about 90 minutes wholesale prices were over £1900/MWh (£1.90/kWh) and average wholesale price for the day was 29p/kWh. It must be something to do with all the sunshine we are getting. 😉

Interesting to compare yesterday’s pricing with 8 January when the grid was stressed and wholesale prices reached a peak of £4/kWh. Average price was just a penny more expensive then.

I'm glad I've got solar panels too! At those prices it's only so long that Octopus (or anybody else) can maintain their prices stable. They must at least be thankful for those of us who see 35p and go round switching stuff off!

Im glad it was troublesome to set up "Octolux" when I had the batteries installed so I went for "go" and now on "go faster".  I cannot see me ever changing as long as the terms remain similar.

ATM 5.5p / kW between 20:30 and 01:30 and 13.8 p outside those 5 hours.  Standing charge is steep @25p but now we have sun my daily bill is rarely above 50p.

Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since.

20 January 2024 Daikin ASHP installed

I see Octopus are doing a new EV tariff similar to Go but with 6 hours at 5p ......

Same standing charge as Go but slightly higher unit rate outwith the cheap period (16p).
And you need an ios device plus a compatible EV charger.
Apparently, OCPP support is currently under development for Zappi chargers.

I asked about this - you have to have a wallbox charger.

Does anyone know when the go faster tariff 'activates' once you agree to the terms?

The email and the terms page give 3 different views ranging from a few days to midnight after signing to midnight before signing, and the email they send suggest it's taken effect instantly.

Presumably it connects to their systems somehow?

    Yeah, sounds about right.
There's some talk about it on the Zappi forum.
Qualification seems pretty limited currently, Tesla drivers or people with an OCCP capable charger.
Can't find a single home charger with OCCP.
And it sounds like the Zappi may not have the required hardware. :/

Edit : Appears to be only Wallbox chargers currently.

For me it was 6 hours after I emailed them, got a reply telling me it was active.

Very interesting that link EVandPV,  hopefully by winter time they will have more chargers able to talk.
6 hours at 5p sounds pretty good to me.
