Years ago a boyfriend's cousin, her birthday was new years day. .Each year as she's got older she had the relay party described, or an 'all day party' as she called it. I think I knew her when it was her 22nd birthday. Various people came in through the day. Older relatives tended to call early as they'd not been out partying the night before and friends a lot later on that day, a constant 'buffet' perhaps with more suitable stuff early on eg bacon butties. I'd actually forgotten she did this till I read the above post.

Nephew (total lockdown when you could only go out once a day for exercise) had family meal and calls throughout the day then got bladdered with friends via video link well into the small hours.
May not be your idea of a party but he had a great time. Comparatively speaking.
