Is really hard to know where to go with this without knowing more about your daughter, especially on a milestone bday.
Have you asked her/has she said what she wants to do or are you taking the lead on organising?
Could you give us a brief overview of interests, family size etc?
Are you wanting a whole day of plans or just a portion?
All of what we have done might not be what your daughter would want but I am sure between us we can bounce some ideas about for something special for her day.  <3
I’m not after specifics, rather someone who has had a party, significant or not and did something that went down well. I suggested a drive by celebration for family but my O.H laughed .

  • Actually the video montage is a lovely idea - a friend's husband arranged for this to be done for her birthday and also planned a zoom party quiz.

Could you have a relay garden party, with guest turning up 3 at a time at allotted times?  Obviously you would have to stay on hand to make sure groups  left when required to allow the next lot in, but she would get to see all of the people she wanted to throughout the course of the day/evening, saving her 3 most treasured friends til the end so they could stay on.

(Not even sure that would be allowed with these rules, but just an idea)

Hi everyone. Looking for ideas for my D.D 18th next month. All plans went belly up obviously,  yet we still want to celebrate her milestone. Party with catering , D.J  in a local bar for family and friends of +100 has gone to celebrating at home .

How then good people can I add to that?  Has anyone celebrated a significant lockdown birthday and can pass on ideas?
    Thank you in anticipation.

Were the original plans of the party something that she really wanted to do and her ideal birthday party to start with?

Everyone is different and when i was younger i would enjoy a party like that because i got to see all my family and friends but i actually didn't have a party like that for my 18th because i much preferred to do an exciting activity with a couple friends/family than have a big party. So it all depends on what she wants to do and what she enjoys.

I know someone recently who celebrated their birthday by going indoor rock climbing with some friends and a meal out with their family. Other people have setup a gazebo in their garden or the local park and had a small gathering with some homemade food but that was generally for older people.

You're now going to be affeted by last night's news. How large is your household Sue? If it now has to be just you what about hiring a hottub?
I can see an 18 year old wanting to share a hot tub with their boyfriend/girlfriend but with their mum & dad?

She might have a couple of sisters though!
I shared one with my 17yo daughter and my husband's aunt only this week. Just something different to do.

But I am guessing you arent an 18 year old girl thats grown up in the millennium... what we find enjoyable as 30 something (ok, 40ish) adult isn't the same as a teenager.  We are also all individuals, I know when I was 18 I'd not have been excited by the idea of a shared hot tub with family... maybe slightly different if we were talking the depth of winter with snow around etc. That isnt to say I wouldnt have gotten into one but it'd have been to keep others happy.

Lose the family, add in the girlfriend and some privacy and I'd have been the first one in there.
I've got a 17yo girl same age as OP's current daughter's age, as I posted, we did just this a few days ago with drinks and music. Did you think I must have witnessd her having such a horrible time I thought I'd suggest it as a laugh?? (and if you did, why did you think that).
I can quite see that daughter and parents might not be much fun and I'm quite sure my own daughter would prefer her boyfriend to us, but I did ask on my first post who was in the household for this reason.   Things are limited in what you currently do anyway due to the social distancing (which is why I didn't suggest mates round) without the rules on amount of people about to change from Monday.

Two of my friends had their 40th in lockdown, in June and August.  They did 'relay' parties.  Socially distanced gatherings of no more than 6, in their garden, all afternoon.  5 people came from 1300-1430; another 5 from 1430 to 1600 etc.  One of them also had an all weekend celebration.  So dinner on Friday eve with 5 friends at home; Sat breakfast out with family somewhere really nice; Sat picnic with 5 friends in the park; dinner Sat pm with close friends.  Then the relay party on Sunday.
It was actually really, really nice. :)
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

That’s an idea, a relay party. Thank you.

Cook her favorite foods, make or buy a cake, have a family celebration watch a film of her choice as a family. If you have space in your '6' invite a best friend. This has been going on for nearly 6 months so half of her friends will have lockdown birthdays, once things are more normal her social group can have a mass birthday celebration! At the moment it is what it is!

Have a 'hunting party': everyone dress up in tweed coats with shotguns and you can have up to 30 people.

You’re right some of her friends have had lockdown birthdays , however this is an 18th lockdown birthday. I was after ideas that had worked for people . Ideas different from cake and a film.
I like the idea of a relay party. We have a large family she has a large friendship circle so will have to think of the logistics around this.
