Morning all, jumping back in for this week. Today's list seems really doable but will let you know later
Adding that I need to put two loads of laundry away as well today and I'll be a happy bunny. Hugs to all that need them, back to cracking on with work.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20178 -
This morning I have
- written a list!
- booked flu jabs
- nagged DH into phoning to ask to see a GP tomorrow when he goes to the surgery about his ulcer (it's getting worse, not better)
- texted the roofer and found out that he is coming next week
- tried for the 3rd time to phone a friend who is not answering or returning my calls
- made one piped cushion cover (of 3) and, having tried it, decided that it's not worth putting zips in them - I can easily sew them up by hand after I've inserted the pad
- made a fuss of Rosie, who has been hiding under the spare bed
- sorted out a box of lace bobbins to send to a friend who gave hers away a couple of years ago and now wishes she hadn't
Just time to do a quick clean of the LR before I go out for fish'n'chips with my Greek friend. DH can have jacket potato and beans for a treat!9 -
Monday Mayhem ~ Living Room, Hall and Stairs
Level One..
Vacuum through the living room, hall and stairs did kitchen while I was about it
Level Two...
Dusting, even if around everything
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean windows and all glass.. including the tv screen
Clear the mantel and only put back the items which are supposed to be there.. and that doesn't include letters, keys or other treasure!
Have also:
- caught the second 'kitchen mouse' of the week in snaptrap, put it down by the pond. We're trying to teach our local kite that if its lucky, food may be in a specific spot, in the hope that one day we can get a good photo of him swooping down! So far he's had 2 mice and 3 birds which I'd found dead in various parts of the garden.
- brought in and put away washing.
- watered greenhouse
- wudupa and wiped kitchen surfaces
- applied for campus access so I can collect my assessment resources
- filled bird feeders.
Time for an early lunch now so we can cycle to visit MIL. After yesterday's run and having not slept well, I'll probably doze off while we are with her, or maybe fall off the bicycle......Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
I got up again around nine and since then have been for a walk, changed bedding, dusted bedroom and living room, hoovered through and done dailies. About to sort out fourth wash load. All being dried indoors today.Spend less now, work less later.9

I now need to feed the girls, de flea them before school (just in case.. one keeps scratting) .. I didn't peg out the washing until lunch time as it started to brighten up a little. It's still cloudy, but I'm hoping the breeze will work its magic.
I WUDUPA 2 bowls of pots and WULTD the pans. Just baking trays left to do.
I've caught up with my texts and emails and paid the rent online. Little jobs but they all need doing.
Letter box is squeaking in the breeze - next job will be to snap in shut as it is very annoying!

I'm sure this was Twinks recipe but i saved it in a text document and can't remember now
Every Day Biscuits - Make and bake, or make and freeze, then bake
Yield: between 45 - 50
Gas 5/190C/ 375F
Metric Imperial
225g 1/2 lb butter, softened
100g 4oz caster sugar
225g 1/2lb SF Flour
5ml 1 tsp vanilla essence
To finish: sprinkle of icing sugar- Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add vanilla and fold in the flour
- Mix to a smooth dough
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for a minute or two. Roll into a sausage shape approx 5cm/ 2in in diameter, put in fridge to chill until firm.
To Freeze: Wrap in foil, pack in a freezer bag. Seal, label and freeze.
To Thaw and Serve: Thaw in the wrappings in the fridge for approx 30 mins, then cut into thin (ish) slices, place on greased baking sheets and bake in a preheated oven for 10mins.
Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool. Sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.
Variations:
Chocolate: Sub 25g / 1oz cocoa powder for the vanilla.
Cherry: Add 50g / 2 oz glace cherries, finely chopped
Nut: Add 50g/2oz chopped almonds or walnuts.
Notes:
These take moments to prep. I make one batch and cut the 'sausage' in half before chilling. Once chilled to firm, one half is then put in the freezer.
The "dough" will keep in the fridge for a few days, so you can "slice" fresh biscuits as and when required.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:10 -

Thank you... thats not Twinks but saved anyway.. Twinks was hobnobby with oats. I hate losing recipes!
I have paired 5 huge wash baskets of socks and filled both wheelie bins, emptied upstairs bins and shoved cat trays.. Still not got to the under stair cupboard but I am trying!
