Hugs Natty, I agree with the others about carpets, I think now more than ever people won't want used carpets so having old ones means they find it easier to imagine putting new ones down. Also many people don't want to feel they are paying for your redecorating in the price, walls and ceilings in good condition, no leaks are important but not the decoration.
Same goes for you Mooonin.
I've been back at work for 3 full days this week and boy am I glad I'm not working tomorrow,
My flying has been restricted to making the bed and picking up clothes each day, and the basics in the kitchen, I'm going to be busy tomorrow!
Better get some dinner on now10 -
Evening all,
I am absolutely shattered, I will be glad when it's tomorrow evening! Natty I am sending you lots of hugs xx
Absolutely loads of laundry to do over the weekend, I know how to live! My brain seems to have turned off so I'll send a flutter of Flylady sparkle to you all xx10 -
Evening all
Hugs Natty. I agree with the all others. When we moved here, we had a lock up unit and I drove round with a full car just so there wasn’t so much carp in the old house for when people came to view it. Then we promptly moved all the carp into the new (bigger) house, and therein lies our mistake 14 years on.2 return trips to small town for school run. DD drove 2 of the journeys.Bed stripped, changed and wm loaded and run before going out this morning. Head down at job 2 to try to clear the inevitable backlog after the summer holidays. Bedroom dusted and upstairs vacuumed just now. Mainly because I couldn’t face cleaning the bathroom and ensuite. I’m banking on Weekend Willi putting in an appearance, or even coming south west for a day trip 😉.
It’s DH’s birthday today, so we have got a supermarket takeaway as a treat for dinner tonight. And cake of course.9 -

Aww Natty sounds like things are rough for you, hugs. When we moved in here the house needed work and we didnt have the time or money to do it, it used to really get me down and I remember that no matter how much you cleaned it always looked grubby and tatty. With some financial help from my parents we were able to eventually put in a new kitchen and bathroom, get new carpets and redecorate but the boys bedrooms both need redoing again. Both us of hate decorating and DH wont let anyone else do it even if we could afford to pay someone.
DS2 been for a test today, cough, temperature, but not feeling really poorly. He is an area that is close to being locked down again and his housemate has the same symptoms. I am not overly worried about him but I am not sure what would happen if he did get very unwell.
Oh and I have agreed to increase my hours from 33 to 35 hours. DH says I should have said no but I am so determined to clear our debts and it will really help. Work want me to have another member of staff to help me but I cant cope with two new starters at once so I have asked if we can delay it a bit.7 -
(((Hugs))) Natty. It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate atm xx
(((Hugs))) also to asb and Valli - dealing with school students, of whatever age, can't be easy after the length of time they've had out of school.
My study/spare bedroom is beginning to look lovely and bright and cheerful. The decorator has finished today and even hoovered up as he moved the various pieces of furniture back (almost) to their rightful places. I borrowed his stepladder before he arrived this morning and cleaned the windows, and he fitted a new curtain rail for me, as well as a new light bulb - he didn't need the ladder to do either, whereas I would have struggled! He also took most of the weight when we carried the piano (keyboard) upstairs, but I still shouldn't really have tried to do it - anyway, it is done now. I still haven't hemmed the curtains, and I'm waiting for DS1 to bring the new shelves. Tomorrow I will move my desk and chair back in, leaving more space in my bedroom, and also sort out pictures to go on the newly painted walls.
I hoovered the LR floor after moving the piano, cleaned the lobby loo, and have done WMx1 with all the dirty cloths and hand towels. And of course I took Rosie for her walk. She is very relaxed tonight, after being on tenterhooks while the decorator was here.
Bed calls. Goodnight all, see you tomorrow xx

Golly I'm way behind on the thread, lots of hugs needed as well as congrats on some great photos.
Much flying has been done this week as my 'lodger' DB has been working in the area again so stayed Tues-Thurs and everywhere was cleaned, hoovered and germi-gelled to an inch of its life before he came. I must start treating him as a family member not a guest i.e. stop making cakes, nice dinners etc......yes I'm in shape.....whale shapedexcept having said that, we are visiting friends in Suffolk tomorrow so I've just made 2 batches of biscuits as we are calling in to other friends in Norfolk on Sat. And, such a treat, not only are we meeting their 'new' young whippet, but he is coming home with us overnight as they are going on a visit. It won't be for long as they are picking him up on Sunday (if they can find where I've hidden him.......).
More real work than I've done for ages today; an hour's boring and unnecessary AGM (although gives me an hour's CPD) then my first online lesson delivery to my workplace lady, 2hrs. It's lovely to be teaching again but hard as I'm a very kinaesthetic person who has to scribble/use flash cards/practical tasks normally. Still she seemed to enjoy it. Already written it up and semi-planned a session for 2 weeks time.
Mr N changed our bedlinen and also guest bedlinen, washed and dried. He also sprayed anywhere DB may have breathed/touched in readiness for BIL who is coming to stay on Sun-Tues.
One load through DW.
Walked up to post a letter.
Some seriously annoying admin done; emailed one professional forum which refused to accept my email as existing even though I'm listed on their members list and I have a note of having paid the subs. Then 2 more to another forum where the person responding to my IT query clearly knows nothing about IT despite being one of their staff.
I've piled a couple of clothes ready for our trip tomorrow plus downloaded 3 books onto Kindle, so that's my priorities. As soon as we get back I have to do a proper pack as I'm away with my Mum for 4 days, no raves planned.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Morning all,
Up since just before 6, so the washing is on the line, pack ups have been made and lots of toast made. The tip of my nose has been tingling since yesterday evening and it's driving me bonkers, wonder if I have super powers?!I will be skipping away from school at 2pm today. DS has footie training tonight, and the wine is chilling ready for me to collapse onto the sofa afterwards!Happy Friday all xx10 -
Today is a bit of a catch-all day I think:
- Clean bathroom (Essential as I have a friend visiting for lunch)
- Put away clean washing
- Get at least one load of washing done
- Change bed
- Have a quick look over the website for my Masters, which opens today (Eek!) I'm going to be studying with the OU and know from past experience it helps to get ahead a little
So, today's tasks:
Friday Frenzy ~ those frightening kids rooms and spare rooms
Level One...
Clear away anything that isn't in it's place, clothes, toys, books etc To be honest, this is probably the biggest job of the lot!
Make an appointment for some ME-time.. hairdressers? manicure? night out with friends? .. whatever just do it!
Level Three....
Sort through a cupboard/chest of drawers and get the clothes out which are no longer wearable, too small or out of season!
Extra Task List- Find 5 things to ebay/freecycle
