But am too embarrassed to ask for a refund - nobody want's to be seen as being mean. I don't believe Tesco should presume an opt in approach.JUST A HEADS UP.......if you shop in TESCO make sure they do not round up your bill to the nearest £1 without asking your permission first! If I want to give to charity I WILL DECIDE TO WHOM AND WHEN I DO THIS not Tesco!!!!Today they rounded up shopping that my son was doing for a PENSIONER without his permission........that is theft in my eyes. When Tesco was called regarding this incident they made the pensioner feel guilty for phoning 'as it was for charity' and offered to send her a voucher - so she was shamed into not taking the money taken from her without her permission back. This is disgusting behaviour and I am fuming.2

Indeed. How this is considered spam I really don't know.Spank said:0 -
Tesco is made up of people and unfortunately people make mistakes. It is company policy that all employees ask the customer if they wish to give to charity and not automatically round up.Nikkiwales said:Fred6789 said:Tesco garage just rounded up my £4.25 bill by 75p (for a charity) without asking. The best course of action I feel that you can take is to not shop at Tesco anymore.0 -
The reason that Tesco is doing this is because charities have been adversely affected during this pandemic. However like this pandemic I can easily see people taking a completely different view on the merits of Tesco doing this. That old saying of “damned if you do and damned if you don’t“ comes to mind.Barny1979 said:
Not the best of timing to increase the rounding with people's finances being affected so adversely currently.CocoM2020 said:They posted about this on FB. Meant to be voluntary (it’s supposed to be rounded up to nearest 10p but till the 13th Sept (unsure of exact date) it’s rounded up to nearest pound. Seems to have caught out a lot of people.0 -
Tesco make enough money to donate, without the thought of asking me. If they did, they can put the job lot back on the shelf.
i decide which charity I give to.5 -
The best thing is to shop elsewhere.

You do know that when Tesco ask you and you say no that’s you deciding what you do.Tesco make enough money to donate, without the thought of asking me. If they did, they can put the job lot back on the shelf.
i decide which charity I give to.Your problem is you don’t want Tesco to engage with you on this matter so really your best option is not to shop there anymore for the month of September. Also you could DECIDE never to shop there again because they did such a shocking thing.1
