Are these the neighbours who lead you astray resulting in feeling a tad fragile the next day 😆

Probably pensions, plus saving for the point where the big ticket things need replacement! It's a fabulous feeling when the creeping realisation that a car needs replacing for example isn't also accompanied with a faint echo of "how are we going to do that!" I think more than anything else, the thing I'm most pleased to have from my time on here is the mindswitch away from things like loans for cars etc just being a necessary part of life.
We are both in the fortunate position that we have been saving into pensions schemes for a long time so we both already have decent pots built up.

Spare funds will probably be lined up into accounts where we can get relatively easy access to them when we need them as we approach retirement rather than locking more money away in pension pots.
You might want to consider stocks and shares isas given you can access them at any time so if you retire earlier than 55 (increasing to 57 soon I think) that gives you an income stream to access before your pensions are accessible. I agree with @EssexHebridean that saving for bigger ticket items like new cars, home improvements etc etc is a good idea and can be done using fixed term or regular savers.
We have set up a stocks and shares ISA. Doesn't get much per month at the moment but it will in the future.
  • As predicted it won't be a very energetic day today 🤣🤣🤣

We had a great time last night but are suffering for it this morning.

Will have breakfast shortly. Scrambled eggs on toast. Just working my way up to making it.

Think it will be a day of dog walking and not much else today.

Hopefully we will feel better by the time it comes for roast chicken dinner later.

We are both feeling much better now. Some fresh air has done us the world of good.

We have been for a walk at a local country park. It was almost spring like in the sunshine.

Dinner is prepared for later, dog is curled up in his bed so a chilled out Sunday afternoon is in order I think.

Back to work again today. That seems to have been a quick weekend.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores today. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work, salad box for me and dinner tonight is cajun chicken wraps.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • weekly shop
    • load of washing
I must chase up the refund for the campsite we should have stayed on last month as well. That should have landed in the bank account last week and didn't.

Mid week already. This week seems to be flying by.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores today. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is rib eye steak with stilton stuffed portobello mushroom and garlic and herb grilled peppers, tomatoes and courgettes.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • cleaning the kitchen
The stupid dog decided to pick up a toad and squeeze it on his walk last night. I can only assume that it didn't taste very nice because he spent the rest of the walk foaming at the mouth and shaking foam everywhere.

He was fine once we got him home, rinsed his mouth out and cleaned his face. Daft dog will no doubt do it again before spring is over.

The toads seem to have come out early this year.

Oh dear, I bet it won’t put him off though 😆 Our young cat has already set up her annual frog watch position in the ferns by the pond.
