  • It has been an amazing couple of weeks. Not quite at the end yet.

Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly getting us and the dog back across the border tomorrow morning.

Then we have a couple of nights on a UK campsite to chill out. (Gave ourselves a couple of spare days in case of any paperwork issues with the dog)

That was a quick 2 weeks - doesn't seem that long ago that you left to go to France!  Wissant is a great aire and so close to the tunnel or ferry.  We often stay there.  Have they put barriers up and starting charging as there were certainly plans to a while back.

Absolutely agree with you that it so much easier to motorhome in France than it is in the UK and far cheaper - I think the most we've ever paid is 12 Euros!  The only places cheaper than that here are pub stops and club rallies!

It's still free here for now but they are obviously gearing up to put barriers on the entrance. There is fresh concrete in place and service ducting.

Service point is out of order at the minute,  well its actually missing rather than out of order but new Service ducting is in place and it looks like they will be installing electricity points. There are fresh concrete pillars behind some spots again with Service ducting.

It is a very popular aire this one for obvious reasons. Glad we had the sense to arrive early this morning to grab a spot. It's rammed now with vans scattered everywhere. Plenty driving round looking for spots as well.

It's always like that @RelievedSheff.  If they're going to put in barriers, electric points and new service area then no doubt it will no longer be free!  Can't see them not charging somehow!

Fully expect it will be a paid aire next time we come. The concrete at the entry looks very fresh.
  • Great that you have had such a good time . Enjoy the rest of your time away .
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • We are just on the train and sadly on the way back to the UK now.

Pet check in and passport control went very smoothly. They checked inside the van and all the lockers but were very swift and efficient and we were on our way in no time and on a train an hour earlier than expected.
