I hate wasps, they seem to enjoy stinging me. We have to watch the dog with them as she tries to eat them!
Thankfully they are in the front garden not the back garden so shouldn't cause us too many problems, hopefully.

Our dog doesn't seem overly bothered by the bees on the lavender in the back garden. He just lies on the patio and watches them.

    Mid week already!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was porridge, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is garlic chicken, noodles and stir fried vegetables. Need to use up some of the second batch of chard before we go away.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • cleaning the kitchen
We got a phone call from the couple we are going to France with last night. It is looking increasingly likely that they won't be able to go as her mum is very poorly in hospital.  They say if she pulls round that they will come but we have told them not to worry about us and to make sure that they are alright and her mum is well and comfortable.

We will survive on our own I'm sure!

Oh what a shame about your friends and the French trip - no doubt they are also gutted about it but as you say in the circumstances it absolutely can't be helped and you'll cope fine on your own.

Been to the shops this morning to start the big van stock up. Got the first of the beer and the cleaning products this morning.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is pork, chili and coconut sausages with rice and vegetables.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • load of washing
    • cleaning the bathrooms
    • vacuuming the house
I am at the hairdressers tonight so the other half has volunteered to do the bathrooms and the vacuuming and to cook dinner. Sounds like an easy evening for me :)

Would have been nice to have some company whilst we got into the swing of things but we were originally planning to go on our own anyway.

    We will be fine.

Sorry to hear your friends might not be accompanying you on your trip to France but I’m sure you’ll be fine. Also sorry to hear about your friend’s mum, I hope she gets better, they are doing the right thing by not going away. Years ago we still went on holiday despite MIL being terminally ill. She passed away unexpectedly while we were away, it was awful and we felt so guilty.

I too went away when my mum had a stroke and spent the whole time worrying about her. I really didnt have a good time and only went because the friend I was with had already lost a holiday due to her circumstances. Mum did at least hang on until I returned but I am certain she knew I had been away because when I went to see her as soon as I got home I got the dirtiest look someone who was almost camatose could give. She died the following day.

We had news from our friends yesterday and her mum has made a miraculous turn around and has been taken back to the nursing home. She is seemingly fit and well again so they are going to take the weekend to decide if they are coming or not.

Friday at last. Looking forward to a long weekend.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and it is fakeaway Friday tonight. We are having a fake KFC with some southern fried chicken, chips, corn on the cob and coleslaw. Will see how that goes.

No jobs to do tonight other than walking the dog. Having said that I might strip the van bedding and get it in the wash tonight so that I can hang it out to dry first thing in the morning.

Looking forwards to a few beers tonight and watching a film or two. The other half wants to watch the new Ghostbusters film tonight.

That’s brilliant news about your friend’s mum. Fingers crossed she remains stable.

When are you going to France?
