It sounds a bit wet out this morning so no  rush to get up or out of bed. The boys are still sound asleep and snoring.

No great plans for this morning really. We need to walk the dog and have some breakfast and pop to the farm shop to pick up a few bits and order a half pig to pick up next week for the freezer.

We can't get onto the campsite until 1pm officially. But we are going to try a little bit earlier if we can. It's only 15 minutes down the road so we don't have to rush around this morning. Just need to chuck our clothes on and a bit of food and we are ready to go.

Might get showered before we go save messing about later.

@RelievedSheff - if that's one of the Club sites you're going to there really isn't any point in getting there early!  Even if it's not busy they make a point of not letting you in until 1pm even when they're not busy and you'll just sit there in your van waiting for 1 o'clock!

It's been raining here too but it has actually stopped at the moment so hopefully it'll be drier later.  Hopefully it'll be the same where you are.

Enjoy  the time with your friends and enjoy just being out in the van.  I had hoped to go away this weekend but DH needed to get his car serviced so we couldn't pick it up until last night and he doesn't think it's worth going away for one night!  Maybe if we only had to go 15 minutes he might think differently!

It's not a club site. We have fallen foul of that before 🤣🤣🤣

It's a site run by one of the local council's which I hadn't realised. Opened a few years ago.

We have not been before despite it only being just down the road. Not really the sort of site we would usually head for in all honesty. Be interesting to see how we get on. Might use it more often at this time of year if we like it.

At least you know what the club sites are like then!  Hopefully this one will turn out to be a good site for you.  We don't really like sites which is why we tend to use the Canterbury Park and Ride - it's cheap, it's hard standing and a free bus into Canterbury and then we can get to anywhere around the South East coast by bus - which of course is Free for us being retired so it makes for a cheap weekend!  It costs us £12 for the weekend for the parking.

We don't generally like being onsites either. But the friends we are meeting up with will only use sites 😕

You never know. We might be pleasantly surprised. Although it's the school holidays and the site is fully booked so I fully expect we won't.

I travelled over to your neck of the woods a couple of times this week RS. Dd had trouble getting a through train ticket to Manchester so we picked her and gks up and returned them to the town in your title. They loved the museums and youngest ones imagination ran away with her as we had hot chocolates in the winter garden…..she was off around the ‘jungle’ searching for wild animals 😂😂 I was quite taken with some of the stalls on the market. The road over the Pennines was just dire yesterday morning though.
We use the club sites but prefer the cl sites……the website is just dire atm though.

As expected the site was busy and noisy and had feral kids everywhere. But even so we still enjoyed it and we would definitely go back again. It is a nice site with lovely facilities.

The pitch we were on was massive. The van was lost on it 🤣🤣🤣

Steady day today. We had a walk around the adjacent country park this morning which was nice.

We are now back home again with breakfast on. Decided to wait until we got home with us being so close.

The dog has has gone straight to bed. He is shattered.

Just realised it is no spends day 8 of October today.

Going to aim for a lot more next month!

The in laws have confirmed today that they won't be coming down for Christmas which is fine. Terrible timing though. I bought the turkey yesterday and its in the freezer 🙈

We are going to meet them in Carlisle the weekend before Christmas to exchange gifts and have a catch up. We will probably take the van up to save driving there and back in the day. Will make a decision on that nearer the time.

At least you know for sure now.

That was a very spacious pitch! Good to have discovered another nice place to go - not school holidays next time I expect 😆
