How has it got to Wednesday already?

It will be a no spends day today. Number 6 for September.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is slow cooked beef ribs with chips, onion rings and corn on the cob. Stuck these in the slow cooker this morning before we set off for work so they should be cooked to perfection by the time we get home.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • vacuuming the house
    • cleaning the bathrooms
    • load of washing (which will be hung to dry in the spare bathroom)

This week is flying by, in fact - where's the Summer gone?  Dinner sounds yum, I've not done any slow cooking for ages as it's always batch cooking and our freezer needs defrosting :(

Long time lurker but just wanted to say your meals sound fab!  I am seriously thinking of getting a slow cooker.. I have had one a long time ago but I didn't like what I cooked in it so may need to do some proper recipe research!  Had a look round a friends house at the weekend - they are doing some serious renovating and are putting their utility room in upstairs!  All I could think was they musn't peg their washing out!! x

Friends of ours also have an upstairs utility room their rationale was everyday you produce dirty laundry which is mainly upstairs (clothes when you get undressed, bedding, towels), which needs washing year round, it is only on some days the laundry can be dried outside so they bring it down then.. They also keep and use the iron upstairs. Their set up is logical to me and if we ever move is something I would like but for now the laundry is brought downstairs to wash then outside to dry and then upstairs to be put away or back upstairs to dry and put away. Which does seem like the laundry is having more journeys on the stairs than necessary. We only use our iron for craft projects 🤣

My dd had her washing station up 2 flights of stairs in the attic in her old house. The removal men were less than impressed when she moved house 😳 It made sense though as they had it stacked in a cupboard and a spare room with a velux window, where they had big airers if the weather was wet to save using the drier. In dry weather they just carried the washing basket up and down. I’ve recently rediscovered freshly ironed clothes..I rarely ironed when I used the tumble drier but in a bit to reduce the bills I’ve stopped using it. I am not convinced using the iron is much better but I can’t stand crinkly clothes…it’s bad enough having crinkly skin 😂😂😳😳

You guys have got me thinking now. We could perhaps do something with the spare bathroom and turn it into a bathroom come laundry room. There is plenty of room in there to put a dryer in a unit and the plumbing is already there. Will have a look tonight and see what the other half thinks :)

I think a laundry room is a great idea especially since you already have the plumbing.

Our first bigger energy bill payment today. £160. By far and away the most we have ever had to pay a month for energy. It will put us in plenty of credit for winter.

No spends day other than that though. Number 7 for September.

Breakfast and lunch are from stores. Breakfast was crumpets and we have both taken our packed lunches to work. For dinner tonight we are going to the local pub for the BOGOF burger deal. We have vouchers to spend so it won't cost us anything. We are hoping now that the kids are back at school that it will be a bit less busy in there and we can actually get in and have something to eat this time.

No jobs to do tonight. We did them last night as we knew we were going out tonight.
