Traffic sounds horrible 😳
We always started and finished our holidays on a Sunday - especially if we went to Cornwall then left very early morning or late. We played with the idea of heading to Scarborough or York yesterday- glad we stayed local instead 👍January spends - £587.581 -
One year, when the kids were very young, we set off for Devon at 4am to miss the traffic. We got there at 8am, far too early to get in the caravan we’d booked. We had to hang around for hours, the weather was cool and it was drizzling. We were very young and inexperienced then, it was our first holiday as a family, we did miss the traffic though 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

When our kids were little and we were going to the West Country we decided to leave around midnight. We were travelling with friends and their kids so we were 4 adults and 4 kids in a big estate car. We thought with leaving that late the kids would sleep - would they heck! We never had more than one child asleep at a time and we got stuck in a traffic jam at about 3am! Never did that again.
Like @Sun_Addict we were young but we didn't manage to miss the traffic🤣.1 -
We tried an early morning set off for Cornwall and it didn't really help that much. By the time we got towards the south we hit traffic anyway, so we don't tend to bother now.0

It will be a no spends day today.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. It was cereals for breakfast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is loch trout with vegetable rice and vegetables.
Today's jobs include:- load of washing (dried in the dryer)
- cleaning the bathrooms
- tidying up the front garden

When we had cars, once a lot of things started to go wrong we knew it was time to get rid. Definitely worth considering.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Certainly sounds like it may well be time to get rid with repairs coming it at that price, especially when you add In the cost of new tyres and brakes as well.

So much for car is going nowhere haha you’ll be living the milk float life before you know it ha. 😜
What’s the car worth? Realistically if not much more than the repair and consumables that need replacement it’s not worth keeping. Iirc there’s outstanding finance- so real question what’s the car worth - outstanding finance? Also how are you funding new car.All the tales of massive traffic jams from here and also from my staff haven’t changed my mind about my bank hols don’t go anywhere stance haha.2 -

Outstanding HP currently stands at £1628 dropping to £1377 in a couple of weeks when the next payment is made.Makes it around a £4500 deposit against something else.
We really didn't want to be financing another car right now and would have happily kept this current car a lot longer but the figures are starting to not add up with the repair and maintenance bills. Might be time to trade it in and get a newer car.
Not getting a full on milk float
Quite like the look of the Ionic Hybrid though.1
