It should be a no spends day today.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is a pizza on the sofa with a few beers.

We have got a few things to finish loading onto the van after work but other than that we are planning a relaxing evening. I suspect we will be in for a busy bank holiday weekend.

I suspect we have a big unexpected car bill coming in the next couple of weeks. The gearbox on the Hyundai has started playing up this morning. We are no longer allowed gear 4. Gears 1, 2,3, 5 and 6 are fine but gear 4 sounds and feels like the syncromesh has suddenly failed. It was seemingly fine when we parked it up last night but something has failed this morning. The other half is going to have a ring round today and get some prices for sorting it out.

With the gear box off we may as well replace the clutch while it is accessible. Looks like one of the credit card balances is going up in the next couple of weeks :(

Gearbox news isn't great. Its going to be a big bill whichever way its gets fixed 😔

Not going to let that ruin a bank holiday weekend though.

That’s the one thing I don’t miss about having a car. The money we’ve paid out in the past 😩 It is what it is though and I know you’ll still have a good weekend.

Of all the cars we have had over the years this is the first gearbox problem we have had, so I don't suppose we can complain too much.

It's a shame though. The car has been faultless for 2.5 years previous.

At least the car is still worth enough to warrant the repair costs!

@RelievedSheff made my Mrs laugh today re lamb burger. Said I think it might be nice on the BBQ but not sure if you can buy lamb mince easily or have to go to some specialist butchers def should have engaged the brain before speaking when I said that !!!!!! dumbo award def goes to me today lol.

That vet plan doesn't sound too bad, Yorkshire prices haha.

Car doesn't sound too good though I could be harsh and say it's what you get for driving a Hyundai fml I'd find the first excuse to get rid of that asap if I were you. Get an EQC it's gear free.

Have to say rather you than me going to Whitby on bank hol weekend it'll be really !!!!!! crowded mate.

It is probably going to be a spendy day today.

We are going to grab a McDonald's breakfast this morning and will grab lunch in Whitby. Dinner tonight is salmon, stir fried vegetables and noodles on the van.

The campsite is already paid for though. We are expecting a very busy and noisy few days in Whitby!

I love Whitby. We did a week in York a few years back and got on the train to there and Scarborough. That is the extent of my experience of the North. Really enjoyed the Yorkshire Dales.
