Sadly we have to head home today. It has been a fantastic weekend. We have enjoyed it so much.

It will be a low spends day today. We just need to nip to the supermarket on the way home to pick up some bread and a couple of bits for our packed lunches this week.

Breakfast and dinner will be from stores. Egg and soldiers for breakfast and some lovely smoked salmon for dinner later.

Traffic was shocking today. We expected it wouldn't be good but we were not fully prepared for just how bad it would be!

Almost 4 hours to drive just under 100 miles.

We came back from our holiday on Friday and left at 5am to avoid the traffic heading into Cornwall. Our 250 mile journey from Surrey  to Cornwall took 4 hours but if we had left at a more civilised hour it would take 8 or 9 hours. I hate sitting in traffic so we either leave early morning or drive back in the evening as our DD and SIL did so their children sleep all the way home.

What a pain with the traffic. I bet that’s everyone coming back from their bank holiday weekends away.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Bank holiday traffic and Leeds Festival traffic combined into one.

Just flashed up on my news feed that the tailbacks on the A1 are now 7.5 miles long around the A64 junction 😕

Still we got home eventually. Glad we got up and sorted and left mid morning at about 10am. Don't expect the traffic will get any better as the day wears on.

The dog has crashed out in his kitchen bed and is currently snoring away.

The van tanks are all emptied and filled ready for next weekend. Got a load of washing on the go. Time to get a drink now I think.

Just totted up what we have spent and it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be and we have a couple more old signs to hang in the kitchen 😃

We have had some shocking runs in and out of Cornwall in the past. 12 hour jobbies.

my husband is on his way back from Lincolnshire to the west country. He rang me about 4hours after he left and was only on the M42. We are hoping the traffic lessens on the M5 when hopefully most people are going north while he is coming south.

Sadly yes, so have we although never had a 12 hour one.  Depends on where you are coming from but the M5 is dreadful for accidents and so on so I am not surprised.  Best come out of season and never  on a Friday or Saturday.

Glad you had a good weekend but tbh the traffic tales don't surprise me. Lot of my staff go away for bank hol weekends and 100% are moaning the Tuesday after in the office.

It will be a low rather than a no spends day. Had to pick up a few bits from the shops this morning that I had forgotten to get yesterday.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores though. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken out packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is air fried jerk chicken thighs, rice and vegetables.

    Today's jobs include:
    • cleaning out the van
    • cleaning the kitchen
    • vacuuming the house
