Sounds like it's going to be a productive day. November is certainly going to be interesting...I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

No better feeling than waking up on a new bed tbh.Ordered your Christmas food already? Madness, bet you’ve got the tree up too... 😜
Tbf Christmas Day is the only day we’re allowed a fry up in this house massive treat washed down with Champagne. Not gonna lie wife and I do the Christmas food shopping together nice day usually - go to a farm shop bit better than sainsburys tbf.2 -
Special delivery has arrived
Got some Mangalitza sausage and Gloucester old spot dry cured smoked streaky bacon to make pigs in blankets for Christmas Dinner and some Mangalitza black bacon for Christmas breakfast. Not something we would have every day as it is expensive but we don't mind pushing the boat out for Christmas. Also got loads of game pie mix, venison, goat and some wagyu.
The tree isn't up yet. Not that daft. That can wait until the first weekend in December. We have now bought all of the food for Christmas dinner except the vegetables which we will get from the farm shop up the road a couple of days before Christmas. Like to be organised with that so we are not rushing around at the last minute trying to get stuff, plus it means we can spread the cost out a bit.

The first of the holiday refunds has been approved. £175 from Burnham Deepdale Campsite.
Once received this money is going straight into the savings account for the garden work.2 -

It's pay day.
It is also a no spend day.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I will grab something from the fridge for lunch and dinner tonight is wagyu burgers with sweet potato wedges, onion rings, homemade coleslaw and salad.
Tonight we are planning to watch a couple of films with a few beers.
Today's jobs include:- working from home
- vacuuming the house
- watering the house plants
- wrapping christmas presents as they arrive
- making coleslaw
- walking the dog x 2

Not such good news on the Le Boat holiday refund this morning.
They can cancel the holiday but we will lose the deposit, collision damage waiver and a percentage of the holiday cost. We are not willing to do this as it is quite a lot of money we will lose. What we can do is switch the holiday to a UK based holiday and if four weeks before the holiday is due to start we can not travel then they will refund the whole price of the holiday. On top of this they will give us a 10% extra to our account.
So we have switched the holiday to a break on the Thames instead for Easter starting on Good Friday.
Not the outcome we had wanted but better than nothing I suppose.3 -
@RelievedSheff Do you not think we’ll be able to go abroad next year? Tbh we’re only going to start putting the money towards a hol in January (currently putting it in emergency fund alongside the amount we’re putting in anyway). Left disappointed this year, did get away once after lockdown but it was an odd experience. Probably just going to visit my parents in Greece next year if we can - literally can’t stay in UK as cheap as going there. My dad is an amazing cook does all the Greek dishes so will eat there most of the time, 2/3 trips to different islands and flights/ferry win win they see son and we get a super cheap holiday on an island that hasn’t been spoiled by big tourism. Already OK’ed with parents but not with Boris.
Your burger sounds a lot better than Maccies lol.3 -
I think travelling abroad next year will be much the same as this year with quarantine periods. We just won't be able to self isolate for 14 days when we come back. It won't be viable. Moving the holiday to a UK based holiday will hopefully negate that requirement.
The choice was to move the holiday to the Thames or to the Caledonian Canal and we have already done the Caledonian on our own boat so the Thames was the obvious choice.
The burgers were excellent 👌3
