It can be cooler if you keep the windows closed and the curtains (heavyish) closed during the day. Not very cheerful but worth it for the odd extreme day.

Are you planning to stay there a long time? If so - thought about fitting air con?

Have you been opening the loft hatch at night? We do that in really hot weather.

It is something we are considering.

No. Not done that yet. We had all the windows and internal doors open last night and the three extractor fans in the bathrooms.

Didn't make a blind bit of difference 🤔

We tried that last year and it didn't really seem to make much difference.

I do think we will end up installing air con. Just don't like the bulky units on the side of the house!

Portable unit might be an option temporarily too.

It will be a no spends day today.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was toast, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I am having tuna sandwiches for my lunch and dinner tonight is a BBQ.

    Today's jobs include:
    • working from home
    • cleaning the bathrooms
    • watering the house plants
    • walking the dog x 2
It is a bit cloudier this morning, still ridiculously hot in the house though. But I am hoping that without the sun streaming through the windows that it will at least allow the house to cool down a little before the heat rises again later on.

We had thought about that but we don't know how good they are. Don't really want to waste money if they are no good.
