There are marine engineers but at £80 per hour plus vat they are shall we say a bit on the pricey side!
The other half is good with his hands and can turn his hand to most things. It seems daft paying nearly £100 per hour for jobs he can do.
Our dog is a rescue so we don't know what happened to him prior to us getting him but he is terrified of fireworks. Heartbreaking to watch,we just try to console him as best we can. Not even dark yet and we have just heard the first fireworks. Had hoped the weather might put people off tonight.
Carb heavy today I will admit. Wil make us sleep tonight 🤣🤣🤣4 -
Nothing wrong with carbs - it's usually what's put with them that the problem eg butter on bread, cheese on pasta etc!
Our days been a bit heavy on the carbs too but no fats - kedgeree for breakfast, chilli noodles for lunch and then curry and rice for dinner tonight. Nothing is cooked in loads of oil - I just use spray oil to start off onions and then a little water to steam them until softened before adding everything else.
I follow the Slimming World plan and have lost weight even with eating loads of carbs!

@RelievedSheff that’s cheaper than Land Rover rates lol! Tbf if you can do yourself fair enough makes sense. We decided better to have from a puppy as you know their background / choose the breed you want / can meet breeder etc etc.Probably craving the carbs right now as we went out Thursday night so Friday, Saturday and Sunday here is plain chicken salad for dinner no dressings etc quite boring ha. Wife takes food intake very seriously, all logged on MyFitnessPal macros etc. She weighs 48kg so knows what she’s doing lol and unless we eat out everything must balance on macros etc. Tbh I’d eat a lot worse and pay for it if I didn’t have her haha.3

We had no intention of having a dog but ended up in a situation where a scruffy, stinky, flea bitten, worm riddled but sweet natured little dog needed a home so we took him on. He has turned out to be a great dog but he would be so different had we had him from a pup.5

Hoping for a low spend day today.
Breakfast and dinner will be from stores. Full English this morning and then roast pork with all the trimmings tonight.
We are heading to a different car boot today. Hemswell near Gainsborough. See if this one is any better for what we want. Then we think we might head to Dobbies for a couple of free coffee's if the queue isn't too big and then a long walk in the woods with the dog to round off the day.5 -
Sounds like you’ve got a great day planned. Hope you have more success with the different car boot. Enjoy your day 😁I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

@RelievedSheff hope the car boot is more fruitful.Sounds like your dog had a horrible start in life but a much better one now. 🙂4

@alt80 he was left on a narrowboat with no food and water along with a pair of cats for at least a week, we suspect much longer with how underweight he was. Luckily an older couple on another narrowboat spotted no one was coming to them and they were feeding them through an open window.
He is spoiled rotten now.4 -
The car boot was more of success today. Got a few old bottles for a bargain price and a dog bed for the living room.
We did find a beautiful original Lyons Tea metal sign but couldn't come to a deal with the vendor despite two lots of haggling so we walked away. Going back for another go on it next week.
The free coffee at Dobbies was lovely but we did end up buying a Christmas tree, several hand blown glass tree decorations, scented pine cones, three plant pots and some herbs while we were there. Most of it was on offer but it wasn't the cheap trip we had gone for. 🤔4 -
That’s the trouble with garden centres they have too many nice things to buy 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
