I feel for your OH with the hedge trimming, our previous house had over 300 feet of privet hedge (planted by the people we bought from) which constantly needed cutting, well it felt like it to me, it looked great when it was tidy but it looked a mess unless you kept it in check.
Our old house had a lot of private as well. It was a nightmare. Had to be cut every four weeks or it looked a mess but as you say looks great when it is cut.

The hedge we have now is nothing like that thing we had before and only needs clipping a few times a year when it starts to look messy or starts getting too tall. It has put a bit of a spurt on the last few weeks now the days are getting longer and the temperatures have increased.

We pay £36 a year for a garden waste bin, first collection of the year was today as they stop collecting for winter. Worth it for us though as the nearest tip is about 10 miles away and we no longer have transport. We make sure it’s full every time to get our money’s worth 😆
We have the option of a garden waste bin for a charge, I think it's the same £36. But most of the time it would hardly have anything in it. We only have the postage stamp lawns and the hedge usually. The grass clippings normally get bagged up and put in the rubbish bin and the hedge clippings taken to the tip.

It would also be another bin to find a home for and we don't really have anywhere suitable for the two that we already have. They are just sat on the drive.

We're lucky so far with no charge for the green bin. I think its because the food waste goes in there as well.
I'm sure it will come though
My mum pays £30 - her neighbour refuses to pay but then tries to cadge space in the bin. Gets short shrift from my mum who at 86 takes no prisoners :)
Its not the worst charge for the convenience.
We have 4 bins in total. They do take some storage.

FOC here too @warby68. Even it was chargeable 100% worth it imo I don't want cars being loaded up with garden waste and not a chance I'm going to have a towbar fitted to my Range ha.

He took it in my car :)

I did ask him what is going to happen when we get the motorhome because he isn't taking it in that. To be honest it is usually only a couple of horse feed buckets worth of clippings so it would fit in the boot of his car if  it had to.

FML I'd completely lose it if the wife loaded garden waste in my RR. Taking the mower for service is bad enough, I make her put a tarp in the boot first ha. Sound like a !!!!!! OCD clean freak lol.

We dont have a compost bin as I only have pots and a rockery  in the back garden and a small lawn and border at the front so I would end up with compost but nothing to do with it.

It should be a no spends day today.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, lunch will be soup and bread and dinner tonight is roast duck with curried vegetables and rice.

    Today's jobs include:
    • working from home
    • site visit (in this rubbish weather)
    • vacuuming the house
    • dusting the house
    • walking the dog
The other doing indoors jobs today. Don't say I blame him looking at the weather outside!

Not the best day for a site visit. Typical after the lovely weather yesterday.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
