Ha I forgot bbqs are even something that existed. Probably best to here I don’t do them but the in-laws are mad for them and expected to go this year almost worth foregoing the jab just to avoid that. They also go through a lot of meat.

Fantastic re eBay. You’ve reminded me to tell my wife to put our stuff up for sale. Might get some interest people seem ready to come out of lockdown.
Our BBQ gets some proper use in the summer. We have had three BBQ breakfasts already this year :D

Can't wait for some warmer weather so we can get outside and cook outside in the garden more.

Mind you that's another thing on the purchases list for next winter, a new BBQ. We just bought a cheap gas one last year so that we had something to use during lockdown. It will be fine for this year but it is starting to show signs of how cheaply made it is and I doubt it would be great after another winter outside.

We are fancying a Weber one for next summer. Something else to save for. Not buying one until next winter now though. The one we have got is fine for now.

That is a lot of meat 🤣🤣 We tend to only eat red meat twice, maximum three times a week so that would last us the rest of the year I think.

We eat red meat very rarely probably once a fortnight so 100 would last the year and more out.

I disagree with the whole pots thing. All the same ‘pot’ ultimately so get rid of the interest baring first you’ll be better off for it and if that’s by using some new 0% do it. Could always put all the spends on 0% later and buy van for cash, deal with the 0% after that maybe. I’m still not 100% sure you’ve fully forecasted your strategy and reflected on it for an adequate amount of time for optimum pay off time tbh.

On the bbq note have to say those bbq breakfasts do look on point. Probably worth buying the Weber one if your going to carry on using it as much as you do.

It really doesn't last as long as you expect it would. We are having a joint of lamb on Sunday so that only leaves three joints. A joint every four weeks say and that is gone in a few months.

Can I ask where that meat was from @RelievedSheff?
I do fancy a store of lamb - for some reason it isn't easy to get a decent variety of lamb round here, even at the new artisan butchers and supermarket stuff is a bit rubbish. I've googled local bulk meat suppliers but again the lamb offering is minimal.
Plans to do this a few months ago went by the wayside when we ended up back as a house of 4 adults and needed the freezer space for pizza and fishfingers again but soon we should be 2 again and deserve some choice cuts lol.

We get our lamb and steak from here:

Not had a bad steak or piece of lamb from them yet. They all come vacuum packed ready for the freezer.

We get the bigger cut steaks pack. The sirloins we had last night were beautiful.

Presumably as there are just two of you you have a stock of recipes to use up leftover meat? We would probably use 1 red meat joint like lamb or beef every month too so perhaps it is deceptive how much we get through as we buy it weekly. We don’t have a big enough freezer to store that much meat anyway. Do you bulk buy for money or quality reasons?

I think the pots system works well for lots of people in debt in that they don’t have to add to debt if they have to make an essential purchase.

I think and RS will correct me if wrong that their logic is that it will only take a few months to clear a relatively small debt albeit at 29% interest given they can  chuck £500+ at it each month and that way they need the least possible finance for   a very expensive motor home. I do agree btw that buying one in good condition with low mileage will do you for a lot of years.

Monday night is usually a dinner made using left overs from the Sunday roast and the other half's Monday sandwiches in his packed lunch are usually meat from Sunday roast as well.

We bulk buy because it is so much cheaper and we have found a source where we are really happy with the quality of the meat and the price.

Just thinking I think it’s about £15k you’re looking to finance for the van - why not stick that on the 0%?

From what you’ve said the adverse will be off your file so should be able to get cards. You’ll get around 2 years to pay. Going to be better than dealer finance if I recall correctly the rates for the dealer finance weren’t good.

100% avoid as much interest as possible.
