We want to get to the point where we have no balances on credit cards and just have the one card for emergency use only with all of our day to day spending being from the current account. We don't want to be reliant on credit cards anymore. They just don't work for us.2

@RelievedSheff had a day like your week yesterday. Ready to do nothing myself when today is over.
Re the cards ultimately if that’s what works for you. I wasn’t trying to be judgemental sorry if it came across that way. Just want you to make the most of your money going forwards.1 -

You didn't sound judgemental at all. We all use money differently. What works for one certainly won't work for another.
It seems crazy with me in my late 30's and the other half in his 40's that we are only now starting to learn how we can best use our money3 -
I think people assume you've been at this repayment game a bit longer than you have @RelievedSheff because you're always so calm and determined and of course have made fantastic progress.
IIRC you're less than a year into full on debt repayment so not surprising you're still very conscious of old bad habits and temptation.
I really understand the mental benefit of keeping the boat money intact. Danger of the slippery slope.
It would be different if you were struggling to make inroads but if it costs a few hundred to help build the good habits for the longer term then it could be money well spent versus possible thousands backwards if you did fall off the wagon (which I really don't think you will)
If its not assuming too much, I think moving away from your old place and into this new and obviously very happy one has been a big catalyst for change. I remember your posts from when you were miserable where you were.
Enjoy your weekend - I think I'm going to give the meat supplier a whirl.

What a difference some sunshine makes to the day. It is beautiful outside today. I have just gone round and flung all of the windows open to let some fresh air around the house.
Just had an email from Le Boat to say that my refund request has been confirmed but due to high volumes of cancellations it may take up to four weeks for the refund to come through. That is fine by us it should be with us for the end of the month which will be perfect timing for when non essential retail opens up again and we can go shed shopping4 -
Happy Friday! I totally agree on the the weather, I feel so much better when the sun is shining and I can open doors and windows and hear the birds singing. Enjoy your day

Your comment about being in your late 30s and only just starting to learn how to make best use of your money will strike a chord with many people. I was certainly very late to the party on this one, in fact I was a fair bit older than you when I discovered this site and had my 'light bulb moment'. You're lucky to have a OH who is on board. I know that if Mr SA had not had his illness we would still probably be struggling. He was my nemesis as far as spending was concerned, dead against any form of budgeting and just used to bung everything on a credit card without even thinking about how it would be repaid. It's never too late to make a change.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

We were much later too! Well into our 50s before we finally got ourselves sorted out properly and budgeting properly. Just as well we got sorted then or we would probably still be struggling now that we're retired which thankfully we're not. No debts and savings!

@RelievedSheff We've both got a lot of time to make up for mate. 100% I realise what an idiot I've been over the years and who knows how things would have been had I sorted myself out early on - tried to forecast it, work out if I'd not spent the money on stupid stuff and put it all into units using the average yield for my portfolio but it's all speculation we don't really know. Just know we've lost time and got a lot to make up for rest is speculating. Undoing previous mistakes and needing to make up for the lost time / opportunities / spent money and lost income - absolute mountain to climb.
Like @warby68 I don't think you'll fall off the wagon at all.3
