Weighted blankets.....thoughts please?

Possibly a silly question but because of the weight can you machine wash them? Are they used right next to the skin like a duvet or do you need to have a sheet over you.0

The Brentford's one says not to wash, though I did read a review of it on Amazon where someone did on a hand wash cycle, just don't tumble dry and make sure your washer can handle the weight I guess.swingaloo2 said:Possibly a silly question but because of the weight can you machine wash them? I used mine as an over blanket on the bed so no skin contact.1 -
Some suggest putting it in a duvet cover. Mine, is on top of my duvet so no contact.swingaloo2 said:Possibly a silly question but because of the weight can you machine wash them? Thank you for the link, DD has sleep issues linked to anxiety so I have ordered one for her to try. She is using the calm app which has made some improvements but hopefully this will be another help.2

How do people find the warmth of a weighted blanket? Like previously mentioned, I wouldn't want to get too reliant on it and then find it too warm to use all year round.

Ive just put mine back on. Took it off mid spring but I'm always cold so you might have it in the bed less.DD265 said:How do people find the warmth of a weighted blanket? Like previously mentioned, I wouldn't want to get too reliant on it and then find it too warm to use all year round.0 -

Not only was it amazing, it was so amazing both my adult kids went back and bought one. They have another colour I think, but I seem to recall thats more expensive.Thank you for the link. I've just ordered one for my son who has anxiety and trouble sleeping. I'd been thinking about it for a while but found them to be too expensive and wasn't sure if they were worth it at this price I can give it a try. Thanks to OP too.Is Brentfords the same company that was known as Brentford Nylons in the 70's and used to sell bri-nylon sheets that would spark with static when you got in to bed : )2

Ooh I don't know but you've evoked many a happy memory of turning over in bed as a child and being 'lit up'Grumpysally said:pulliptears said:I bought this one a few weeks ago. . I think those of us of a certain age love blankets like this as they are very reminiscent of childhood with one thin duvet and a dozen blankets piled on making for a very heavy bed. I always sleep so much better in an ice cold bedroom with heavy covers. 2 -

I think especially since coming through the menopause, I find duvets too much and am preferring layers of blankets and a very thin duvet.Nylon sheets and nylon nighties. We were absolute fire hazzards back in the day, I remember melting a nighty I'd put over a parafin bathroom heater to warm up. Luckily my parents discovered it before it resulted in a catastrophe.

It's giving me the heebie-jeebies: brushed nylon nighties and sheets were the worst combination ever for a nail-biter!Signature removed for peace of mind2
