I literally bought one next week. Too soon to say if it works on my insomnia but I think it will help with my restless legs (which contribute to the insomnia). It's very comfortable but I don't think I'll get the full benefit until it gets colder

I have a chronic mental health condition and insomnia along with it. I love my weighted blanket. Even when I don't sleep much the sleep i do get is better, less tossing and turning.
It's also very comforting, less worry on getting into bed that stops you going to sleep.

I also bought my son a weighted lap pad for school. He has ASD and struggles to sit still. The pad grounds them so they should wiggle less and have more focus. We'll see how that goes in the next few weeks.
Thank you, care to share the make? They range from £20+ right up to £100s!

I don't have a weighted blanket, but I do find that I sleep much better when I have a cat on my chest/legs, which I guess serves a similar purpose!

    How heavy is your cat?
The big one is around 6kg
    It's not difficult!

I paid £45 for a single from the MACS toy shop. Not a clue on the make, They're in wallasey, Merseyside. They're also on facebook. Maybe message and ask them. Ive seen ridiculous prices, anything that apparently helps disability they think they can change a premium.

The weight of the blanket should really be 'personalised' in terms of your own size and weight.  A general guideline is 10% of your weight so make sure you order one that will work for you.

My friend bought one and found it uncomfortable for the first couple of nights so was thinking of not continuing to use it but decided to persevere.  Third night she slept right through (usually wakes up at 2am and spends a few hours awake).  She still has some night when she wakes and cannot get back to sleep but the good nights now outweigh the bad.

  • Mine was made by Highams and is 8kg and has the stitched pockets. It was £32 reduced from £80. I'm guessing they'll be cheaper in summer...

    This is interesting.
I bought one last year and found it so heavy that I returned it.

  • A YouTuber I sometimes watch is 'My Green Closet'  She talks about ethical fashion and green clothing.  She recently reviewed a weighted blanket after using one for a month and so this review may be helpful:

I have to say that I have not watched this particular review, but she is usually honest and open in her other videos.
