Just returned to the UK after a few years abroad. Whats the credit card market like now then.
I use credit cards for general spending in the UK shopping, online, cars, petrol, supermarket, travel, booking holidays home and abroad - just everything really! Always settle at the end of the month.
I have a Halifax Clarity for use abroad and am using it here for the moment but there are no benefits.
So looking for recommendations for the best route in my situation.

So looking for recommendations for the best route in my situation. The only 2 rewards ones left in the U.K. are Amex and Barclaycard rewards card.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
Amex and or Barclaycard Rewards1

Amex is best for UK, especially if you are using it as described above, which is our practice. There is a modest £25 annual fee, however that can be offset by the cashback accrued over 12 months - paid for 'er indoors yearly car service and MOT, a nice little earner.Barclaycard Reward is good for holidays abroad - no FX fees at ATMs - as long as balance is paid in full when next monthly statement is due for settlement.1

Unless you’re spending more than £10k per year then there’s little point taking the card that had the fee.1 -
The RBS / NatWest reward card is probably your next best bet for more traditional cards, 0.25% on general spend, 1% on supermarket shop. There are some non mainstream offerings about, if you want to know more PM me.

Virgin have a Mastercard where you get points for Virgin flights or use points for seat upgrades.
Amex gold card is also a great option but cancel before end of year one or its £140 a year. Lots of points?avios to be earnt if you hit spend targets and 2 free lounge passes for airport lounge then discounts for further visits.
Extra points if you get referred

Going by the OP's annual usage explanation he should meet that £10K threshold.D3xt3r5L4b said:
