Unreasonable changes to check in/out times

  • Thanks for you advice, my Health Visitor was happy for me to start weaning and every baby is different.
We have been looking forward to this holiday since we booked it, we are regular travellers normally and we, like everyone else, need a break.
This has never been about getting a refund, I asked a genuine question about where we stand legally as our contract has been changed. Its going to be difficult for us and we won’t be able to enjoy the property for the duration we have paid for.
I have been subjected to people’s ‘opinions’, including yours about me changing my mind and trying to use the situation to get a refund, which simply is not the case, and also when I choose to wean my own child, not the factual advice I had hoped this forum would give me.
I won’t be using this forum again, it’s not helpful and incredibly unfriendly!

There has been plenty of help, just not the things you probably wanted to hear.

Let us know what the CAB say on Tuesday.

I must have missed a few comments, as far as I can see it’s just personal opinions received so far, but thanks for your input.
I won’t be posting on this thread again or on this forum at all.
Have a great bank holiday everyone.

Tell us the rough areas where you are traveling from and to and I am sure one of the lovely forum members can recommend a place to eat on the way that doesnt involve sitting in a reataurant.
I mean, this was trying to be helpful, but you merely chose to laugh at it. Never mind.

There has been plenty of factual as well as option based help - you have just been selective in what you have read
The change in check in:out times would NOT be classed as unreasonable- you legally retain the right to cancel but not to receive any refund.
(also confused why you would find offers of help to find “safe” eating venues funny)

Kirsty I hope you go to Wales and have a fabulous time, take on board some of the suggestions, ignore the ones you don't agree with.   This forum is not a general chit chat forum, it is just to give advice on specific questions regarding travel "Coronavirus travel help and info"   General opinion is NO, you wouldn't have any recourse for a refund in the circumstances you describe..

People came back with personal opinions to help you find ways to lessen the stress of having to wait 3 hours. Which is what you seemed to want.    Rightly or wrongly, it was meant in good faith am sure, mine certainly was.

I am also sure you will find that travelling with a six month old isn't as bad as you feel but again, that is just my opinion going by personal experience, taking young babies on holiday etc (which is not what this site is intended for)   When/what/how you feed your baby is non of our business.  The plain fact is IF, you wanted, you can manage it one way or another...where there's a will and all that.     Good luck Kirsty and hope you have a wonderful, stress free holiday.

I know people on here sometimes don't like the advice they are getting, but I do have a degree of sympathy with the OP on this. It is not reasonable to make changes to checkin/checkout times to this degree with 1 week to go before arrival. Nothing has changed in the guidelines in the last week that could cause such a change. It's more likely this information has been left as late as possible in order to make it a fait accompli. While she may not have any legal redress, I hope she takes the opportunity to give a suitable rating to the host/company on the usual websites.
The fact that people then proceed to tell her when she should or should not start to wean her child makes it completely understandable if she decides not to return to this forum.
  • It’s always the OP that brings in these unnecessary aspects to the question/problem.
You can’t then not expect people to ignore it if the OP thinks it’s important enough to include in the first place

The way people are going on in this thread its like it is impossible to start cooking a hot meal at 7pm 😉
LOL.... well no it isn't but even if the OP don't want to do that there are so many other options.  I just feel there is so much unnecessary anguish and obstacles being put in place that I don't think the OP and family actually wants to go anyway.  Even if you don't feel comfortable with stopping for a meal (which is perfectly safe in my experience of how social distancing is handled),  Could buy ready meals, could prepare meals at home beforehand and take with them, could feed baby in car, could do lots of things that don't include starting to prepare a meal at 7 p.m.  It wouldn't even hurt to have a cold meal for one evening, what is wrong with salads?  but if you really don't want to go then you can find another dozen reasons why you don't want to go.
To be perfectly honest, with all this we don’t want to go now!
Finally get to the bottom of the matter. Thought that disinclination to travel was the primary reason.

I suspect a lot of the threads on this particular forum boil down to exactly that.  There's just no other reasonable explanation for people nitpicking completely trivial changes to their travel schedules.
