There are 230 non-write-off 2010 Polos on Autotrader.
30 of them are private sales. 14 of those are £4k+.
However, looking down those, the first (£4.1k) has been on the market since May... There's two or three since June, a good few July. They are being advertised, but they are not selling at that price...
    Another 10 are between £2,500 and £3,500...

Give us more details on spec and mileage, we can narrow down a more likely price range.
Good condition, aside from the issues above, 93,000 miles, part service history

Volkswagen Polo Moda 1.2, 2011 reg

I'd expect to actually receive around £3,500 for it

    Sorry, its a 2010 plate, 2011 reg.

Last service was done in January 2020, MOT and road tax due in January 2021

Have you tried doing a WBAC valuation, declaring the dings, and then seeing what they offer and then up your price a certain way above that?  You can ask for any amount you like, but if it is priced higher than a dealer where people think they have some form of guarantee (however limited that guarantee might be based on age etc) people simply will not look at it, much less make an offer.

As I said, personally I would get the electric mirror fixed.  If it looks like something should have worked, it will put many buyers off completely, and if you say it has electric mirrors you will have to state they are non functional.
Okay, I think I'll repair the mirrors and leave the paintwork, thank you!
I haven't done the valuation, I think I'll just list as the third or fourth cheapest polo for my year on autotrader and see how it goes

Am I going mad or is that impossible If it’s a 2010 plate it would have been registered between March and Aug 2010. The length of MOT isn’t a great selling point as it’s only 4 months away

It's possible that the car was manufactured in 2010 but not registered until 2011.  Sometimes dealers hold on to unregistered stock for a few months.
It does seem expensive for what it is, though; there are plenty of much nicer looking and better specified cars available on Auto Trader for less money.  But then people will pay a premium just because it's a VW, so who knows?  The only way to get an idea is to offer it for sale.
