    Dear OP
Some will never understand as possilby they don't drive or live in a quiet part of the UK
You made a very vlaid point one that coucils make money from in many cases.
No matter what some have said, it is easier said than doen especially in high density traffic areasa. important to note that some box junctions are poorly laid out and there to make money for the coucil or whoever the fines go to by training their cctv on the box junction. We dread those junctions, are advance drivers but people will push in on amber and on red at times elaving you stuck in the middle. Thanfully it's only happened once and no cctv but we avoid one on our way to family's home.

Another excellent post, thank you for that. I know a couple of advanced drivers and they too avoid box junctions, one told me 'just not worth it' getting stuck in the middle by someone pushing in, how awful! you were very very lucky that it only happened once. ATB
Are you saying that being an advanced driver, one is not allowed to avoid a very poorly laid out box junction that is there and there only to catch out thousands of motorists a year.  IMHO, you forget as possibly you are not an advanced driver that an advanced driver like me is taught to assess and risk assess every scenario then tackle it at what is deemed in the safest manner and if the risk assessment declares that the risk will be reduced if you take alternative steps, then this is what I as an advanced driver does, it is honestly as simple as that. Anticipating driver behaviour and road conditions.

If you want to be a better driver may I suggest you take advanced driving lessons and test, worht the money IMHO

I suspect the only stable that applies in respect of her vehicles is stabilisers. ;)

A box junction is there to aid traffic flow and stop people jamming it up, it does have a purpose and is not there just to raise revenue.
Care to post up your advanced driving certificate?

In London people have suffered for a long, long time box junctions, bus lanes that start and stop ever 30 feet and so on. There are reasons why they are there but like speed cma started off on the right foot and then used as cash cows.
One in central London seen as a cash cow may be revised the council is looking into it after thousands of complaints from hard working people trying to get to work.  We have people from Leeds and Midlands coming to see us and most of them find it really diffuclt to drive in London.

I'm not going to argue with anyone that bangs on about how to use the box approately most will be aware of that like I am, but when people turning left push through amber and red lights, a car wating to turn right almost always gets caught out of the clown that stops 20 fot short of the car in front catching out the driver behind and if you can't see that as a problem, you never will. Thankfully we hardly travel towards central london these days and use the m25 to bypass but people going to work often get caught out as cams are manned by coucils daily during peak hours to catch out good drivers that have been caught out by the types mentioned above ie ref light jumpers and those that stop a good 20 feet from car in front.

I have a sense of de-ja-vous - the above post was before other posts before?  Only those that don't read the road ahead of them as well as they should get caught out at them.  Trouble is, like roundabouts they get messed up by people who don't know how to use them.  Both are there to help manage traffic flow.

Thank you for your insightful post, unfortunately not being an 'advanced driver' I couldn't understand a lot of it, I will try to be a better driver but hey hang on a minute I don't know whether this may help me, I have rode motorbikes for over 20 years so I'm pretty damn good at anticipating what drivers do OR SHOULD DO!!, I've taken evasive action numerous times when drivers have pulled out on me with the usual 'sorry I didn't see you' routine. I've rode with the Police Bike safe team a few times AND to top it off done a lot of track days where being an 'advanced' DRIVER means nothing!

If YOU want to improve YOUR driving, may I suggest riding a bike on the road for a few months, worth the experience IMHO

Do you still think I should take advanced driving lessons?

EDIT: after reading this back I can see I have allowed myself to be reeled in and for that I'm thoroughly ashamed  :#
    So you should be.
You also spelled inciteful wrong  :p
