Wow, @PipneyJane you have had a day and a half. Can't help you with the cashew problem, if you find a solution I have a pistachio habit of my own that needs conquering.
@moneyonmymindsam totally agree with your sentiments about cake and suggest you peruse Delia's cake of the week emails, very cheering to the inbox.
Meanwhile I ran some reduced tinned chickpeas to earth this morning and some E45 too so I have spent £10.14 which makes my new total £117.97/£200 and rather a long way to go so am planning to cook the chickpeas on Weds and eat them with rice and/or lentils and never mind the weather, goldfinches.8 -

Having a few quiet days preparing to go away to see family and then friends, using up opened bits and bobs in the fridge. I will also take home any veg that would otherwise go off and share this with the family, saves on waste, cash and means I still get to eat what I like! I will need to pop to the shop later for one or two items... Repeat after me, one or two items, one or two items. I will not deviate from the list. I will not deviate from the list! Ommmm
That said we are doing very well on our budget and also have the cupboards and freezer stocked from my huge £37 spending spree in L1dl last week, making use of the £5 off voucher! Feeling pretty good about our total spend at this point.
Have a good tuesday!Officially a homeowner 🥳🥳

@PipneyJane Morrisons also sold off some of the flour they use in their bakery. It's great when the SMs recognise there is a need and go outside the box to meet it. We shared a sack in the height of the crisis with several households in our sourdough bread group in the village!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Budgets updated to here
@PipneyJane well done on your amazing surplus! I've updated your budget
@sarahj1986 welcome back!
@zafiro1984 no problem - I tend to leave names on for a few months or if they are regulars, even if they don't declare for a bit - it just makes it a bit quicker and easier for me doing the budgets!
@taka welcome back!
@VickyV welcome!
@Pixiehouse55 - £300
€44.14 spent today
I’ve bought some meat, salad stuff, veg, fruit, eggs, frozen bits, crate of beer for my husband, pasta, bin bags, milk, big block of spanish cheese and cheddar cheese. This should do us a week although I need to go back in tomorrow to get water and some fizzy pop. I couldn’t carry it all in one go.€305.86 left
picked up water and mozzy plug in as I’m being eaten alive. I do get bitten anyway but even more so now there’s no tourists round.€297.86 left
€11.09 in Mercadona and €45.01 in Aldi
Mercadona small shop because we’ve moved further away from them and there is a few items I like to get from there. We were up that way so stocked upAldi was a top up on fruit, potatoes, milk, yogurts, Porridge, sugar, chicken on offer, nappies, fizzy pop and beer for my husband. Shouldn’t need to go back in there until mid next week for more fresh items. They’ve changed the offer days and there’s things I want to buy on Wednesday so I’ll be able to hold out until then.Edit - got a slow cooker from a charity shop yesterday. They are incredibly expensive here so it was a snatch. Bring on the colder months for stews€241.76
fruit, veg, milk, breakfast items, chocolate, cakes and a few other items.€193.56 left
i have a question for you all -
my father in law has offered to take my husband shopping and buy us a big shop. We aren’t struggling financially that bad just yet. My husband issue back on the Spanish furlong scheme but I think his dad is worried it might take time to come through and just wants to help out with things like nappies, long life items etc. Should I count this spend too? What would you all do?€25.05 spent
this is topping up water, fruit, veg plus some items on special offer over 3 small shops. My father in law is taking hubby and our daughter tomorrow so writing a list now. I’ll have a few precious hours to do the housework while they are gone
€168.51 left:money::rotfl::T5 -
Had Covid test on Monday so if I don't hear anything back from the hospital my op is going ahead on Thursday, I won't be packing my bag until last minute though.
Got all the beds stripped and washed today,the duvet covers and sheets all dried in half an hour it is so warm
Still no shopping needed apart from eggs I am down to 10, but we use a lot of eggs in his house plus milk and veg which DH will get on Saturday.
Garden veggies are doing well so that keeps the food costs down.
DH wants me to make him D&D's Apple Braid tomorrow and I have some apples that need using up so he will get his wish.
Dinner tonight is Wartime Homity pie and Salad, already got potatoes, an egg, apples, home grown garlic and cheese, no leeks but I have some spring onions in the freezer so I will use them instead and I will make the pastry using the Stork that I got cheaply in Farmfoods.
Just tomorrow left to cook and then we are living from the prepped meal list so I think that I will be on target with my budget, I will try and post before the end of the month to let you know October's budget which will be larger because I will be getting things in for Christmas eeeeeeekBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Something I forgot to mention on my initial post is that the 10kg sack of chapati flour was also on a discounted offer. It's normally £5 and they'd discounted it down to £3.50.
