    Dear OP
Arm yourself with this - it's quiet easy to read/follow and IMO sums up your woes.
Take note of the "reasonable" in that and work from there.
Not sure if you have asked, have you asked for a courtsey car free of charge? Give them a chance and see how it goes but be prepared sometimes even simple parts take a while to arrive

They aren't entitled to a courtesy car.  They can certainly ask, but they most likely will not get.  If the garage will not pick it up, and they don't have to, the OP has to get the car to them.  Can you stop replying for the sake of it please?  You aren't adding much that is helpful, quite the contrary.

OP, I think you are being quite generous giving them a chance to repair.  That will stand you in good standing if it ever needs to go to court.

A little knowledge can be dangerous - that timing fault could well be causing the emissions issue as explained above.
Just FYI, trains are running between Preston and Manchester. I got one last week.
Would you risk driving a car down the M55, M6, M60 motorways, that has a Timing Belt issue, that road recovery refused to cover, due to the mechanical fault?
Even their "free AA Road Recovery" said "no."
Why would you drive it down the M55 if you bought it in Preston?

I live on the Fylde Coast. Newton-with-Scales is, still Preston, despite being the Fylde and the outskirt.
The M55 isn't a link to, just, Blackpool.
Kirkham & Wesham is, still, regarded as outskirt Preston, too.

I bought it from Manchester, but travelled from my Fylde district of Preston.

I don't understand your snarky attitude. I'm not in the wrong, here..?
I'm covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Anyway, they are coming to collect it and I'm giving them a chance to put things right.

Exactly what I already said re courtesy car and that is "ask," so what is your point?

Does it really matter which road they drive down the OP is seeking help and that is what counts. Even I get roads mixed up.
OP is stating their concerns driving a car back that lready has a known fault up a busy, long road and that is understandable.
OP, let us know how you get on.

    I will do, thanks.
Hopefully, it'll be solved and they've been reasonable, so I've decided to give them a chance to put it right.
Fingers crossed, everything will be good from there.

It was sold as seen no refund. Sometimes the new drivers can cause these faults for example driving too rough.

Where did you get that from?
Car was bought from a garage.
Did the OP test drive before purchasing?

"sold as seen, no refund" is fine when it's a B2B transaction or a C2C (provided that the car is as described and the seller has the legal right to sell it) one but when a business is selling something to a consumer, stating or even implying such a term is illegal as it's attempting to deprive that consumer of their statutory rights.

But you are completely ignoring the fact that it is the customer's responsibility to get the car to the dealer, both for return and repair.  It is part of the risk of buying from a distance away, and something that should be factored into purchasing.  If the dealer volunteers more, then they deserve some credit.
