I never mentioned any bail out for landlords, so fail to understand the comment.

I was referring to the obligation for the customers to pay.

These groups, taken as a whole, are no more or less likely to be bad tenants than the population at large.  Indeed, sometimes, they can be more grateful for a good property and good landlord, given the extent of prejudice against them.
I can only go by what we have seen and heard from family, realtives and friends and the people they know and that was avoid, avoid, avoid those out of work, self employed, students and those with pets.  We are free to choose and if things go wrong, how do you recover money from a student, self employed as many claim to be not worth a lot when they paly around with LL's and those out of work.  Pets are a big no, no.

FYI, the T's we have, we've not rasied their rents for more than two years and our letting agents were advised before the gov stepped in that if they are in genuie dire, we will do what it takes to help them out - you cant be fairer than that.

Customers aren't always able to pay. Contingency for bad debts / late payment should be built into the business plan. Both parties need to work together to get through the period of difficulty.

    Agreed.
But not bad debts driven by the media saying "don't pay".

Poor landlords, if you can't cope with it don't do it.

The comment about "poor landlords..." is akin to me going into Curry's, buying a TV but never paying for it and then saying "poor retailers..."
When companies borrow money and they are unable to service the debt. They go bust.  That's the real world of business. Not a fairy tale where somebody else bails them out. Dog eats dog. Take a risk suffer the consquences.
Companies are not compelled to keep selling their goods or services to people who cannot or will not pay for them, without warning. Landlords are. That goes beyond "take a risk suffer the consequences".

Contrary to thinking in normal times, a tenant totally relying on benefits will now be in a better position than anyone at risk of a drop in earnings.

Unfortunately I doubt that the mortgage and insurance companies that don't allow tenants on benefits will change policy any time soon.

It’s amazing really. A supposedly right wing Tory government has effectively nationalised private housing for the duration of the pandemic and not even had to compensate owners!
It’s no different to the government telling shops they can’t stop shoplifters and there will be no police involvement!
Corbyn basically won this election 🤣

That type of blanket discriminatory approach is entirely contrary to your mantra of the importance of being nice.
Well, the money I, my family ie immediate family, my sobiling, in-laws, realtives, etc, etc worked hard and still working and spending prudently to make our fincnacil position more secure and that of our family.
You fort the bit where we have not raised rents for over two years and told our letting agents that we will not throw anyone out that has diff paying their rent becuse of Covid before the gov did. Additonally we tell our t's, play nice with us and we will be nice to you should you lose your job/etc. But you knew that already but chose not to mention the nice bit but decided to quote me out of context just becuse we've made a few bob.and are caring LL's
