If it's just a case of rolling a new design out... seems like a weird effort for an account offer they closed to new applicants and seem intent on running down.

Either the product is intended to be resurrected in some way, or there must have been some sort of breach?

Their website suggest they are doing a relaunch at some point:

Sorry, we’re no longer accepting new current account applications.
Keep an eye out for our exciting new plans, helping Tesco shoppers to manage their money a little better every day.

What are they supposed to say - their CA offering is clearly operating at a loss - we can either close them down with all the bad PR or transfer them to a willing third party with slightly less bad PR but more admin costs on top?
  • Has anyone successfully used their new card? Just tried to use mine online, and even though it recognised the details and sent a OTP to my phone, the transaction was declined twice. Tried again with my old card and it went through first time.

I haven't used it online but used it in a Tesco store with chip and pin on the self service till, and it went through fine.

Have you had a chip transaction yet? Sometimes cards don’t go live properly until you enter the pin

Not yet, but you might be right there: I'll try an in-store test purchase and see if it works.

I might be wrong but if yours is a replacement card then you shouldn't need to do a chip and pin purchase to allow you to make an online purchase? I only used chip and pin so the the contactless facility was activated.

So that is both my cards replaced but MrsM has had nothing re hers.  I have regularly used my old cards in real shops, only Tesco, but the last time MrsM used hers in a real shop was probably over a year ago but has used it on line to pay PB & HL for the points.

Some issuers will not re-issue unused cards at renewal stage.
