I have two Tesco Bank accounts.

I received a text message on Friday (14th August) letting me know a new debit card for one of them was on its way.

I didn't think anything about it until the card arrived and I noticed my old one doesn't expire until 12/20.

New card is similar to their credit cad, but is Visa instead of Mastercard and displays 'Debit card.' at the top right.

    I guess it’ll be like this 👍

Mine too is being replaced. Can't tell if it's early, late or on time as I'm away and the card is at home.

Who knows and it will never tell us but perhaps the reason for replacing these cards early is because it thinks it has another potential security breach issue with its debit cards like it had en masse a few years ago.
Probably more likely to be transferring the CA customer book to a third party as it's closed to be new business.

Puzzling, why would the physical card need to change to facilitate the sort of changes (2FA?) they're referring to? Why haven't other banks had to do that?

Probably because it's a load of rubbish.

Received my new blue card for the one that expires next month then received another text for the card that expires April next year.
