I am going to keep going, I just don't want to put the pressure of the deadlines on myself now that I can't make any extra daily payments.

Another £50 paid off the card, courtesy of You Gov, so the balance is now an impressive £1,489.80!!!

I'm really glad I met my end of January target (and early too). I know I'm not going to be able to clear it by my birthday now (unless a miracle occurs!!), but I'm just going to take it £100 at a time now. I've got the housework down to an hour now that I've gone through the house last week with a more thorough clean. I'm trying really hard to keep on top of things, so when I do my room a day, it doesn't take too long at all. I had physio this morning, so I made sure I got up early to do my treatments, treadmill, shower, clean the kitchen and do my physio by 11am. I plan to do the same tomorrow, but will finish at 10am, so I can then do work for the rest of the day.

I'm still going to crack on with the card, as I've come so far, and then once that has cleared, I've got some other debts to try and clear ASAP!!

  • I think it's probably best that you don't put a deadline on yourself.

£8.23 paid off the card today, which is £8 from Prolific and £0.23 interest back, so the balance is now £1,481.57.

  • You are doing so well! Congratulations on smashing your targets for January :)
Sorry to hear about those other debts rearing their heads, but you are so on top of it now that you will get them sorted too. Don't put too much pressure on yourself, you are doing amazingly and you will get there.

Shame about the old debts, but you've made great progress on the card!

I agree with everyone else that it's a real shame about those other debts popping up unexpectedly.  I know how it feels as it happened to me just when I felt I was making real inroads into the debt I was concentrating on.  Gutted didn't describe how I felt at the time.  I just kept my head down and did my best as I know you'll do.  Once they're gone you can carry on with the card-clearing.  You've done so well getting that card balance down and we all know you'll carry on doing that when the time comes.  Please don't put any extra pressure on yourself as far as time goes.

    Take care xx

    Hi everyone

Thanks for your messages. Please don't think I'm moaning about the debts, because I spent the money (admittedly a very long time ago), so I need to pay them back - it's as simple as that. I will get them paid eventually, but I'm still going to concentrate any extra money I earn to be paid off the card, as I am paying interest on that, but not on the other debts.

Anyway, had some good news yesterday - my COVID vaccine has been booked for Tuesday next week. It was a big relief to get the booking text through last night. Hopefully by the end of next month I will feel a bit safer in terms of getting on with my life. I know it doesn't necessarily stop you getting COVID, but it does stop you getting it as badly. I can handle anything, as long as I don't end up fighting for my life in hospital (again!!). I've been there, and it's not pleasant, believe me.
